Lower the oven temperature by 25 degrees and bake them a little longer. Watch them carefully. Sometimes the edges are brown and the centers aren't cooked. Then you might have to decrease the heat a little more.

GRAMMIES' BIG SUGAR COOKIES

2 eggs, beaten
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
4 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. flavoring (lemon, nutmeg or vanilla)

Mix together eggs, sugar and shortening. Add milk. Sift soda, cream of tartar and salt into flour. Mix slowly into batter. Add flavoring of choice. Roll cookie dough out on floured surface until approximately 1/2 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 7 to 10 minutes.
