I mean, if they really believe all that stuff in the bible then wouldn't they be more Christian-like to pity the non-believers? Or to at least see an opportunity to save a lost soul?

I saw where someone called athiests pigs on yahoo answers and it reminded me of the radical Islam that is creating so much horror in the world. To have such hate as to call other humans that because they disagree is so hypocritical to me. I had to post this question.

Because they're not good Christians. It's almost futile to try to figure these sorts of people out.

Well, there's quite a few "Christian" weirdos around here. For the most part, I don't think Christians are bad people though. But they do definitely have a point where they will stop being nice, and start with the name calling.

It typically happens when they realize that logic can decimate their beliefs, and they are on the verge of having to admit it.

Some of them just buckle quicker than others.

I think Christians who are name-callers are the same as athesits or really anyone who's a name-caller. They are saying something unkind, they are out of line, they're not following Christ at that moment.

What was that?

OH!!! You thought Christians were PERFECT.

Well, they're not.
And in fact, for many Christians, their lives here on earth do not show a lot of discernible difference in behavior from that of their atheist friends.
The difference will be much more readily apparent in the afterlife.

Lastly, FYI: There is a big difference between a name-caller and a suicide bomber.

What happens is a Christian will ask, "Why don't you believe in God?" so they can gain perspective.

Their answers range from, "Screw off" to "Screw off with science" to "I hate God so go away" to closed minded view of cultural subjectivism and the list goes on. So Christians get a bit Jaded when an honest and open question basically gets a dump taken on it and insulting a God that I call my father is the same as taking a dump on my actual father.

So we take offense because we are human, and humans take offense to offensive things. Calling atheist a pig is them lashing out.

There are radical people in every religion. They just didn't really get the message. They are not true believers, they're just lost. It's sad, but I don't think we can do anything about that, it's the human nature. People will use anything, specially religion, to hate their fellow man.

The bible tells us that constantly sharing the message of salvation with those who refuse to hear it is "like casting pearls before swine". They will trample the pearls then turn and tear you to pieces. In other words they aren't going to listen and enjoy being "dirty" in their sin instead of being clean. So if someone called you a pig, now you understand why.

Simple enough. They wouldn't. Calling someone a pig violates pretty much every lesson that Christ ever taught. I'm a Christian, and have plenty of atheist friends. We show each other mutual respect, despite our differences of opinion.

I agree, I'm a Christan and I think that's terrible and NOT Christain conduct, but remember they are probably "self proclaimed Christans" many profess but do not possess.
I have been called a "troll" a "Idiot" and "Dumb"and had pornography said to me because of my beliefs, its sad small and a shame, but I know not all un believers are like that there are many very nice courteousness.
