I heard that your body burns more calories than are in the apple to digest the apple. Is that true? Are apples technically a no calorie food?

There is no such thing as a no calorie food, except maybe water. The misconception that it takes more calories to digest a particular food than is in it is a widely spread rumor.

apples have about 90 calories. it does not take 90 calories to digest an apple. celery on the other hand literally is no calorie food, but it has no nutritional value.

I doubt it. I bet there's a good amount of fructose (a sugar) in apples.

I've heard that celery is a no-calorie food.

MEGGIE,

THE APPLE ALWAYS HAS SUCROSE THEREFORE THERE WILL ALWAYS BE CALORIES. AS FAR AS DIGESTING IT, THIS PROCESS DOES NOT EXPEND THE SAME ENERGY IN CONSUMPTION AS IS PRESENT IN THE APPLE.

Not true. What you really mean is "negative calorie food". Apples are not negative calorie food.
