Lifting weights puts more exertion on the muscle itself while running and cyling are continuous motions that also help the heart. Lifting tears down your muscles and takes more time to rebuild. that is why you shouldnt lift every day. be sure you stretch your arms just as well as you stretch you legs.

why do u want to know? first off both activites are the same. both uses muscles. either way if you over exert your muscles ex instead of doing your usual 100 repetition weight lift and you do 500 reps then muscles will cramp. same for runners. unless you are looking for an asnwer such as weight lifters use steriods and thus they dont know when to stop lifting weights, or they they thick headed, or theres a pretty girl in the room he wants to impress, or he doesnt know his limits, or hes making up for last weeks absence or no pain equal no gain or a million reasons.

stretch... running and cycling are fluid movements, while lifting is expanding and contracting of the muscles.
