She says stupid stuff like to get people to pay attention to her fat butt. My husband and I were not poor. Actually we only had a car payment and insurance to pay. (we dont do credit cards). My husband felt it was his duty to serve his counrty just like his grandfather did. I think they should send her fat stinky butt to a day in basic training, then to Iraq. Then mabe she would shut her mouth. I am truely offended by anything that she says. Her kids should be taken away from her for telling them that Bush is not the President because he cheated. She is a lady with many problems and needs to seek help immedialty.

The Military does not recruit "poor people" they recruit people. That means that they put as much effort in recruiting in Martha's Vineyard as they do into central Baltimore. Recruiters go where the "Market" (recruitable qualified individuals) are and care very little about economic circumstances etc. The Boston Recruiting station regularly put Harvard Graduates into the Army as privates and SP4’s.

I am sure the other services can say the same. In my personal experience individuals with more wealth (especially their parents) were less willing to discuss service to country than were Mid and Low income individuals/parents.

One more fact that this group may find interesting. Recruiters for the Army do not sell Jobs or assignments. They sell the Army. Jobs and assignments are agreed to between the guidance councilor and the Recruit after the recruit is qualified to enlist (Passed medical, physical, educational and moral evaluations). All agreements are clearly spelled out in the contract that the recruit signs. There is no coercion and if there is a complaint of impropriety a formal investigation is held. Get caught doing something wrong or even turning a "Blind Eye" and you are gone maybe to jail. Some people still make the mistake of not taking integrity seriously but generally speaking they are weeded out and punished. No system is perfect but those involved in recruiting work very hard to deserve the trust placed in them by the American People.

Yes she did say that. And she really should not have said that as an all-encompassing statement. Not everyone who enlists in military service does so because they are poor. But then not everybody enlists for the sheer pride of serving their country.

While serving one's country is a major motivation the access to education that is provided by the military is something that some people would not have any other way.

My husband was not poor either when he joined, he did it for love of his country and to make his family proud.

Just remember that it is your constitution that allows people like Rosie to express these opinions so freely and it is these rights that good men and women fight for every day.

Rosie is a liberal of the "knee jerk" variety. She often opens her mouth without thinking. While there is no doubt that some people join for economic reasons, the majority do so out of a desire to serve the nation and to give something back. In 28 years, the majority of people I've served with have been dedicated professionals trying to do the best job they can for the nation. I'm not wealthy, but consider myself well-off. I joined to give back to the nation that allowed me to get to where I am from where I started.

What do you expect she is a high paid liberal celebrity. She just doen't know how to shut up. Look at John Kerry and what he said about the troops . They are rich, privillage people who forgot that this great nation is worth fighting for-whether you have money or not. EX: Pat Tilman he was a football player and turn down a milion dollar contract join the military. sadly he was killed in war. So money isn't factor. Rosie just doesn't get it.

What Rosie fails to realize is that the only reason she is free to run her fat mouth on TV is because better people than her are willing to give their lives to defend her freedom.

So if you look at it, everything she has, she should thank the American Soldier for who ALLOWS her to be so ignorant.

I have NEVER hated anyone in my life, but for Rosie, I would go to jail just to be able to smash her face in with a hammer.

I pay absolutely no attention to what Ms. O'Donnell says. The only weight she has is in her rear. When she leaves The View she will join the likes of Howard Stern and drift off into oblivion. (Well, maybe not drift. She'll roll off into oblivion,)

Most of the people the military recruits are younger kids looking for a steady job. So, yeah, I agree with what she said.

Rosie O'Donnell is an IDIOT on every single subject that comes out of her mouth. I don't waste a minute of my life listening to anything she has to say about anything.
