today i cough feel i had quite a bit of mucus slowly coming up. So i started coughing and out came really thick mucus with a thick rubbery brown piece inside it. The whole thing was brown and grey like. What could this be?

You probably have an infection in your bronchial tubes. The dark brown could even be old blood. You should see a doctor. If you use Robitussin it will thin out the mucous so you can cough it up much easier. Be sure to get plenty of fluids too.

Yes, it sounds like an infection. The best thing to do would be see your doctor and bring that stuff with you.

That sounds like exactly what it is...spotting from the exam...the doctor should have told you in advance if he/she was stripping your membranes. Looks like the doctor wanted to get your labor started. Start counting the contractions...and keep walking around the neighbor hood. I went into labor three days after my "dr.s appt. where he did that to me" they sometimes need to tell us so we're not left to wonder. Good luck. Happy delivery Day!
