If you have already filed a claim with your insurance carrier and they already paid you for the total loss, make sure you tell them (they should be able to find out as well) that your vehicle was just recovered.

If you have not filed a claim with your insurance carrier - and there is damage to your vehicle - file a claim with your insurance carrier and they will investigate and inspect your vehicle.

ALL THIS assuming you have collision coverage. If you do not, you have no coverage for the vehicle being stolen, or the vehicle having damage.

The insurance company has 60 days to recover the vehicle, so you should contact the insurance company and deal directly with them. If there is any damage to the car, the insurance company has the option of fixing or totalling the vehicle.

The insurance compayny will want estimates on the damages on the car, if any. Then they will pay the estimate, or they will pay the repair shop to fix it for you. Glad to hear you got your car back.

I might add, that if the damages are more than the value of the car, they may total it and just give you a check for the amount of value the car is listed for and you get another car.

Providing you have compresensive coverage you wait for the claims dept to inspect the vehicle and determine the amount (if any) damages resulting from the loss. If it was totally trashed and burned, you and your insurer come together and agree on a settlement amount -- less your deductible. If it's repairable, then you get it repaired and they pay for it.

If they have already settled the claim, it's their car now. However, I'm sure they will let you have the car in exchange for their money back.

If the insurance claim hasn't been settled yet, now it becomes a claim for whatever damage was done.

Um.. call and file a claim for a "recovered theft" or tell them it was recovered if you have a claim filed already... they will take care of the damages if you have proper coverage on your policy
