you should NOT be applying johnsons baby oil that 's for sure. what did your tattoo artist tell you to do? once you have initially taken off the wrap you should not recover it with any kind of wrap. the ink that is coming off is normal as is the blood and "ooze" you should wash the tattoo 4 to 5 times a day with warm water and antibacterial soap (like dial or something) put a fragrance free lotion or a tattoo aftercare product after each washing and leave it alone.
no more baby oil!!!

one man, don't worry color will seep at times, specially if the artist didn't breach enough layers of the skin. I have deep red on my neck and got the tattoo's done 4 years ago and they are still vibrant and yes it did seep the first day or so. But honestly if the artist you went to didn't give you a sheet on how to take proper care of it, he wasn't very professional and maybe you should think twice about going back to him/her.
Don't use Vitamin E or baby oil. Use A&D ointment for 3-5 days or up to a week. Twice a day dab it on only a thin layer. Before doing so lightly wash it with warm water and mild unscented soap. Pat it dry then apply the ointment. After the first week use UNscented healing lotion(as with others I recommend Curel) or use Tattoo Goo which most shops should carry. Do that for about another week twice a day, thin layer.
DO NOT PICK THE SCABBING. you'll damage the tattoo and risk losing the ink in that area. If you feel you might be getting an infection contact your Artist and ask for instructions. Keep it away from prolonged sun light(it will damage the tattoo). Give it around 2 weeks 3 MAX and the scabbing and everything should be healed and you'll have a beautiful tattoo. Just remember TWICE a day with the a&d and lotion wash it if it gets dirty and you'll be fine.
And to repeat once again, if an artist doesn't provide proper aftercare instructions after doing a tattoo than he's not very professional...I suggest looking for a different artist.

Everyone has their own "personal" aftercare instructions....I will tell you mine.......(my tattoos all look brand new still and i have never required a touch-up)
I left the bandage on as my artist advised for my lower back one hour, my foot didn't even use a bandage (b/c there was no bleeding)....
I waited until the next morning to wash the area and honestly i didn't use soap, i just lightly let a little water hit the area and patted it for a few seconds, after showering i used Curel Continuous Comfort Fragrance Free lotion and gently patted it onto the tattoo......
I applied lotion normally 2-3 times a day and after about 4 days (the actual scabbing part) I probably used the lotion around 4-5 times or as i felt the area begin to be tight or itching.....
I never understood the whole ointment treatment b/c to me a tattoo is an open wound that needs air to breathe i use ointment after it is healed to make it shine but that's just my opinion....
(I can tell you with my lower back tat the first day i showered it did look like the color was coming off in the tub :) that is just excess ink so nothing to worry about) Once its healed that will be when you can tell if you will require a touch-up, until then don't worry and just care for it as you decide.
Good Luck!!

Some of these people who answered this question are idiots... First of all.. once you get your tattoo done they will wrap it up.. After about an hour your supposed to wash the nasty junk off... NEVER wrap it back up... your supposed to let it air dry... You need to keep it moisturized when it scabs up.. NEVER put neosporen on your tattoo.. It will treat it like a scar and your tattoo color will fade and wont come out as great.. The tattoo parlor should have sold some products that are ointments specially made for tattoos.. Dont scratch at your scabs because it will make it look worst.. Your tattoo parlor should have told you how to take care of it..

My tattoo just finished healing and I had no problems and it looks great. My tattoo artist wrapped my tattoo in a lubriderm bandage, which I was told to keep on for a whole week. The bandage was very helpful because I didn't have to wash it or apply ointment. This is something new in tattooing so not many places do it yet. After I took it off I was advised to wash it in anti-bacterial non-scented soap and apply a fragrance free lotion every 3-4 hours. I used Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion. My tattoo is healed now but I continue to put lotion on it every day and night to keep it lookin' sharp! good luck!!

I work at a tattoo shop. I read some of the groups answers, and well, it freaked me out a bit. So. Read on.
AfterCare. Follow it, and your tattoos will heal *awesome*.
Disregard, you get whats coming to ya.
Wait 2-4 hours to take the bandage off. Jump in the shower, and......
Wash your tattoo a couple of times a day with clean hands. Use Dial antibacterial liquid soap. Not bar, liquid. Be gentle!Rinse well, air Dry. Do not re-bandage.
Never ever touch your tattoo with dirty hands. In fact, dont touch it unless you are washing it or applying Aquaphor. (lotion, works swell)
Minimal amounts of lotion at first. A thin layer. Dont cake that **** on. No products with aloe, alcohol or fragarance. NO VASELINE. NO TRIPLE ANTIBIOTIC.
For 2 to 4 weeks, shower only. Make them quick. Do not scrub at your tattoo. Do not use loofas, bath poofs, ect. Clean hands only.
NO-hottubs, bathtubs, lakes, rivers, oceans, streams. Standing water harbors bacteria.
No tanning beds. No Saunas. If you exercise, Wash up afterwords. Change your sheets and pillowcases regularly...this helps reduce the chance of nasties working their way onto/into your tattoo. It's an open wound, people.
Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo. This can be devastating. You will rip the ink right out of your skin, you can cause scarring, or you could infect yourself. Don't touch!
If scabs do form, let them fall off on their own. If it gets super itchy, you can slap at it, through your shirt.
Wear light, airy clothing. Nothing that might rub ya wrong. This too can equal devastation, mad scarring, general yuckiness.
No direct sunlight while its healing...and when it is healed, use sunscreen each and everytime you do expose it to sunlight. This helps reduce fading. A lot.
Dont be a douche. Dont go rolling around in poo, mudbathing...you get my point.
We can tell if you mistreated your tattoo.
Special instructions--
Neck tattoos----If you have long hair, and you have had your neck tattooed, wash your hair in the sink for the first week. Most shampoos have crazy amounts of alcohol. You do not want shampoo anywhere near your new tattoo. Also, do not wear necklaces while you are healing.
Finger/hand tattoos---- No washing dishes, wearing gloves...do not wear rings over healing finger tattoos. Same goes with your wrists tattoos...no watches! You use your hands a lot, they bend, move and twist all of the time. Be mindful.
Help keep artists work looking beautiful.
Treat your art (and your body!) with respect

the color is not coming off but could if u dont take care of it properly. get some liquid dial soap and a+d ointment. those are the best products. dont keep it covered once you uncover it leave it uncovered. was it lightly with soap and let it air dry. then put enough ointment to cover ur tat and leave it out in the air. dont scratch it either. after a week or so it should be healed nicely. i hope that helps
