I just bought a wedding gown and a small amount of the lace has a tear in it. It's not terribly noticeable, but I would like to have it fixed with the alterations. Can a good seamstress fix this?

Some patterns can be re-woven, but you must find a tailor or seamstress that has experience in reweaving lace. You need to call ahead of time and speak with the tailor directly, ask them if they have specific experience in reweaving lace. Once you have found someone who has experience, you will need to take it to them to see if the pattern will lend itself to the repairs. Some paterns are extremely difficult and others are downright impossible. Do not be surprised if the cost is expensive. This is a very tedious and time-consuming type of repair.

You mentioned that the gown is new, therefore, I would highly recommend that you contact the bridal salon where you purchased it to see if they can order you a new lace panel from the designer. That way your seamstress can replace the panel that is damaged and it will be much more cost and time effective.

One of my brides used a product called "Wonder Under" or something like that. She cut out a section only slightly longer and slightly wider than the tear and she carefully ironed the lace to the wonder under. Her lace was a tight weave so the wonder under was not noticable at all. If you have a more see through weave on your lace, this may not work.

Since you mentioned that the tear is not noticable, if you DO NOT run the risk of tearing it more, then I suggest that you just wear the gown as is. Once the wedding is over, the tear will not be an issue.

Good luck!

I believe some patterns can be fixed, but it can be expensive because the work is very detailed. If it's important to you to preserve it, take it to a couple of different places to get estimates before the tear gets worse. If you figure it won't get worse before the wedding and no one will notice and it will never be worn again, then don't even worry about it. If the dress is new, then ask for a replacement.

yeas, of course, but you better buy a white lace smallest rose and fix it on the lace, it's won't be visible anymore

Yes, for sure. Take it to the tailor at a bridal shop; some of them just do magic!
