Isn't this using God's name for profit?

Yes I think it is trying to "use" their supposed belief to advertise to people of the same faith. Personally I don't patronize any businesses that have religious symbols as a prominent piece of their advertising or decoration because I think it's tasteless and tacky and makes me feel unwelcome.

I don't think it is using God's name for profit. I think people started using it so when someone wanted to find a business they would know they were dealing with a fellow Christian owned business.

I think it is overused now days (where I live anyway) I see it in several ads in our phone books.

I personally would never use a business just because they used a fish or cross symbol. I think I would be disappointed if I went to a mechanic if he used a Christian symbol and he still ripped me off.

I think so. It lets me know that they have to TELL people they are Christians. I should be able to tell by their actions. I am very leery of business people with the fish symbol (or WWJD etc) on their business cards, advertising etc.

I think it is fine- if you do not want to solicit their business that is your choice. Using God's name for profit? I do not think so- I think they may even be limiting their profit if people feel it is wrong- so they just are honoring God and letting people who want to use business' that are Christians.

That person is just identifying himself or herself as a Christian
and using God is not the motive.

yes, but if they do they need to support all fish symbol products too.

Don't you worry. Those that use God anything in vanity will be held accountable. but it is not up to you or me to judge.

peace be with you.

They paid for it. The way I see it, if it offends anyone they have the choice to not to do business with that particular establishment.

Unless the Pope can prove it was copyrighted then it can be used in advertising.

I have always seen some irony in it, of course I see irony everywhere. I'm probably genetically inclined towards irony.
