Popular? Find out what everyone else nearby is doing and start doing it too. If you find yourself around a different type of group switch your personality.
Should more than one groups of differing oppinions encounter you just try to think, "Which group of people has more money?" The answer should become obvious. More money=better person.
For the ladies, bear in mind that if someone is at least 9 feet away from you they cannot and never will hear any negative thing you say about them. This is basis behind gossip and it is expected of you.
For the gents, should an object come near you it is you duty to hit, kick, or lift it harder, farther, and better than all males around you. If you do not you are less of a man and therefor deserve to be ridiculed. This is the basis behind all sports and it is expected of you.
For everyone, if somebody seems different they are bad and will never be popular. Examples of different include: Intellectual, artistic, homosexual, creative, non-Christian, poor, and any thing else that may make one seem slightly out of place among status quo.
Finally, remember that popularity requires a full time comitment. Should the time come to change everything you've ever known be prepared to do so before others end up being cooler than you for doing it first. Having passions in your life will just make it harder to give them up when popularity insists so avoid hobbies and anything constructive.

Always keep in mind however, No matter how popular you are, there will always be people more popular than you.

'Popular' - by Nada Surf

There comes a time in every girl's life when she's really got to ask herself:
"Is she ready to be going steady?"
There comes a time where she's got to ask herself:
"Steady or not? Do you really want to be Johnnny's steady?"
Well, first of all, let's see if dating this one boy Johnny...

Three important rules for breaking up:
Don't put off breaking up when you know you want to
Prolonging the situation only makes it worse
Tell him honestly, simply, kindly, but firmly
Don't make a big production
Don't make up an elaborate story
This will help you avoid a big tear jerking scene
If you wanna date other people say so
Be prepared for the boy to feel hurt and rejected
Even if you've gone together for only a short time and haven't been too serious,
There's still a feeling of rejection when someone says she prefers the company of others to your exclusive company
But if you're honest and direct and avoid making a flowery emotional speech when you break the news,
The boy will respect you for your frankness
And honestly, he'll apeciate the kind of straight forward manner in which you told him your decision,
Unless he's a real jerk or a cry baby, you will remain friends

I'm head of the class
I'm popular
I'm a quarter back
I'm popular
My mom says I'm a catch
I'm popular
I'm never last picked
I got a cheerleader chick

Being attractive is the most important thing there is
If you wanna catch the biggest fish in your pond
You have to be as attractive as possible
Make sure to keep your hair spotless and clean
Wash it at least every two weeks
Once every two weeks
And if you see Johnny football hero in the hall
Tell him he played a great game
Tell him you like his article in the newspaper

I'm the party star
I'm popular
I've got my own car
I'm popular
I'll never get caught
I'm popular
I make football bets
I'm a teacher's pet

I propose we support a one month limit on going steady
I think it would keep people more able to deal with weird situations
And get to know more people
I think if you're ready to go out with Johnny
Now's the time to tell him about your one month limit
He wont mind, he'll apreciate your fresh look on dating
And once you've dated someone else you can date him again
I'm sure he'll like it
Everyone will appreciate it
You're so novel, what a good idea
You can keep your time to yourself
You don't need date insurance
You can go out with whoever you want to
Every boy, every boy in the whole world could be yours
If you'll just listen to my plan:
THE TEENAGE GUIDE TO POPULARITY

I'm head of the class
I'm popular
I'm a quarter back
I'm popular
My mom says I'm a catch
I'm popular
I'm never last picked
I got a cheerleader chick
I'm the party star
I'm popular
I've got my own car
I'm popular
I'll never get caught
I'm popular
I'm the teacher's pet
I make football bets

Although that is not the most important thing in life, I'll help you out. Don't keep to yourself. You don't have to be the most social person, but you have to be able to talk to people. You should be friendly, and definitely not snobby. Talk with the good qualities you have. Listen to others as well. Show the kind of person you are with the way you talk. Tell a few jokes if you're funny. Be yourself, and hopefully people will like you for that. Also, you have to respect other people. Respect is one of the keys in this life that will help you get anywhere. If you respect others, they will respect you. Be involved in the college or school community as much as possible. Do what you love to do. Whether you play a sport or love acting and singing, you will meet new interesting people that will get to know you. Remember, first impressions last a lifetime. Not only that, but everything you do should be done for a good reason. Be yourself. Hopefully yourself is good. If you have a few bad habits, change it up. If you really want to get popular, you need to keep in mind what's good for you. Popular kids aren't always the ones who drink, do drugs, and other bad habits. They aren't always the prettiest people. Although looks plays a role sometimes, character is what's important. Don't ever let money or popularity get to your head. Good luck, and I hope you find out what's important.

Hang out with the right people. Look at the people that go to parties but still have good grades. You'll see them in the middle level classes. For example: Algebra 2, Chemistry, etc. Just talk to one guy till he becomes your friend, and then one day just casually ask him "yo waddup man, can i kick it with you and your friends?" If you're on his good side, and your his pal, he cant say no.

After that you're in. Make sure they aren't lazy and that they want to succeed. Because you are who you hang around with.

I know this because i did this, now I'm a pretty popular guy in my school, people know me. I also am going to rent an apartment with 3 of the closest friends i had from the group at UC Santa Barbara.

Also, get fit, be clean, brush your teeth, and play at least 1 sport that the school likes. My school's football team is garbage, so i stayed away from that and joined Baseball, which is a pretty good team here. If you look good in a jersey, you definitely need to join a team.

Everyone has an opinion on this topic! I wondered the exact same thing when I was in high school. My family moved around a lot, and I felt like a ping-pong ball. "Fitting in" sometimes happened magically, and sometimes it didn't work no matter what I tried.

It wasn't until I was out of college I realized what the "formula" was for popularity. I thought popularity was something that made people happy. I had that backwards.

Happy people become popular.

I thought about the people I most admired and wanted to be around, at all stages of life. They were the people around whom I felt happy, excited, interested, comfortable, and alive.

You can't just suddenly wake up and "not care" what other people think, so don't beat yourself up for not having "attitude". Actually, caring about other people can be one of your greatest strengths (don't let anyone tell you otherwise!). The thing is, instead of focusing on how people think about you, focus on how they feel. Focus on what they think. Cultivate interest in people. Be kind, be courteous, and give whoever you're talking to your full attention. Find out what makes other people tick, why they like the things they do. You'll get all kinds of new interests and friends this way.

Others are right, you need to cultivate interesting things about yourself. Its ok to be "geeky" about something (or several somethings). The older you get, the more attractive those "geeky" skills are because people admire skill and dedication. Take up a new hobby every year. Work at giving your best in everything you do. Let life be your focus, not your popularity rating.

Popularity is a fickle mistress (ask any politician). Instead of worrying about being popular, focus on making yourself someone you would want to be around... and enjoy the company of every person you come into contact with.

Being popular isn't always a bad thing as many of these people have led on. It can also mean being a leader and embodying a lifestyle that others can look up to. First, determine which of your characteristics are important to you and make it your goal to stand by them. You shouldn't cheat yourself to be liked, but rather strive for others' approval. If you are self-confident in who you are, you will get more respect and attention from people than if you were to become a poser and simply mold yourself into someone you envy. Most of all, try to make yourself stand out but not in an arrogant way. Although it may be hard, put yourself out there and let loose. The vulnerability is something you get used to, while you reap the rewards of doing so.

Seriously, forget about being popular. Just be yourself. If you have problems socialising, then go to someone you're at least vaguely familiar with, or someone in the same predicament as you are (in this case, I'm assuming lack of popularity) and try to chat about something you know that person will be interested in. Forexample, if that person is good at and likes, say... Music, then strike up a conversation concerning the latest popular singles or something. Then, when you're certain you've snagged that one friend, gather your own group of friends with similar interests, or you can completely contrast with each other and still get along. In any case, get your group of friends with the help of that one friend then, hang out, snub the people who sleep around for popularity, dig the cute guys around you (if there are any, and if you don't already have a boyfriend, some boys are pretty sensitive), party and ROCK THE SCHOOL.

Confidence! Confidence! Confidence!

I used to be 225 pounds, at age 14 (I am a female, and I was 5'6") I was so sure that when I lost the weight, I would finally be popular. But I wasn't.

You know why, because I was still the same person. Today I am 19 and I am at university, (ninety pounds thinner) and I have learned that the more you like yourself, the more others like you too.

Stand up straighter, make a concious effort to be happy, just close your eyes and imagine a smile-- don't smile until it happens naturally.

remember that you are the creator of your own experience, you decide how you are going to feel and react to whatever life sends your way, so enjoy it!

The more you just enjoy yourself, the more others will want to enjoy life with you!

scientifically:
Studies show that the people who are considered the most charismatic are the one who do not mimic other people, but who are mimicked. according to science, during conversations people begin mirroring each other (ie smiling when the other person smiles etc)
So it is the one being mimicked that is more charismatic.

Steps

1. Pay attention to your appearance. You don't have to become obsessed with it, but you at least have to care about it. Have a good hygiene and have some fashion sense, but dress the way you like to. Besides, it makes you be more looked up to and also helps in self-esteem.
2. Be outgoing. Just don't be shy, it's a lot better to break free and be yourself. You can talk to anyone. Be interesting and interested in people, they will just want to talk to you more.
3. Be nice. Do you like to talk to someone that seems unfriendly? Well, many people don't, so be nice and treat everyone well.
4. Smile. Try to show a nice smile and see what happens. Maybe people don't show it, but a smile can change things and people love it, even if they don't show they do.
5. Be confident. Confidence is appealing, because everyone prefers to be around people who feels happy about themselves. Wipe away your insecurities and all those fears. You have to see that no one is better than you and without you, many people's lives wouldn't be as good. Think about it and you'll see that you're awesome in your own way.
6. Walk straight. Don't slouch, it makes you look insecure and it gives out this idea that you're weaker. Having a good poise, walking with head up and good posture makes you look more confident and people can't help it but will have the idea that you're powerful.
7. Have a good conversation. This world is so huge, there's too many things to talk about. Relax and don't be so speech less, try to meet that other person even more, ask about what do they like and think of any subject you can talk about, remember, the world is huge, there's too many subjects, just pick one that you are interested in.
8. Be a good listener. What do you think about someone that doesn't stop talking and almost don't let you speak anything? Don't want to be that person, right? Let people talk about themselves, listen and don't interrupt. Sure you can talk about you, but show you're interested in that person's thoughts, and that person will get interested on you.
9. Share your ideas and thoughts. This is a good way to start a nice conversation, they can laugh at your ideas if sound funny, well, so much better, don't you think so?

Tips

* Respect to be respected.
* Be nice.
* Be confident - believe in yourself, a confident attitude will make everyone else love you more. Think of what are you have of special and work it, don't hide it.
* Don't try too hard. Popularity is not that important, so don't care too much or you'll seem a wannabe.
* Be solidary. There's nothing wrong about helping people when they need, no matter if it is in classes or personal subjects, go and help them, if possible.
* Be smart. Yeah, what people say that only nerds study is totally fake. You know, there's lots of popular people that are smart. Pay attention to classes, study and practice at home. Good grades are something you have to be proud of.
* Be open, have no preconceit and accept everyone. Don't stay closed in only a small group of friends, look for friends everywhere, no matter their style or opinions, respect them and they'll like you for it. Why don't you take the initiative and go talk to those other kids around there? Don't lose the chance of meeting nice people.
* Most importantly, don't incessantly talk to or of yourself. It's creepy and makes people think you are weird. If you want them to see interesting, also be interested in them.

Warnings

* Be yourself - be true to who you really are, everyone has their defects and qualities, so learn to laugh at your bad points and like your qualities, and there runs the risk that you like so much the real you that you won't have the wish to imitate or be like other people.

Hope it helps.Good Luck!!
