Coughing pulls the muscles in your ribs. That's why you're hurting all the time. Use a heating pad on the area for twenty minutes at a time several times a day. A good professional massage would help loosen the muscles. Rib muscles take a long time to stop having spasms. That's why I recommend massage therapy. You will feel tremendous relief after your first massage.

The only solution for back pain other then medications to relieve it, is chiropractic help. The same goes for whiplash injuries.

I suggest you contact Dr. Seelig at Preston Forest Chiropractic in Dallas. She is very experienced in injury cases and this is not the first time she has seen pains from coughing.

Have you had a recent chest xray? you may have pneumonia. This is also a cause for pain. Don't let it go unchecked.
