Well yes you can. but i dont recommend the ones from wal-mart or any other place like that. They dont even work. It would be a waste of money. I would pay a few extra bucks and take him to the vet and get one done the right way and only for a few bucks more.
Congrats on the new puppie.

Hello ..when it comes to puppies it's best to ask & use a vet for flea products.. tho there are some marked Safe for Puppies..I just hate using pesticides of any kind & when we do, it's just a drop or two at the base of the tails - where the body meets the tail, fleas love spots dogs can get too easiy & nest in them..also a drop on the top of the neck..that's it, otherwise it's use a fine metal animal comb, lots of combing & sprinkling carpeting, etc the nite before you go to bed with borax ( 20 Mule Team found in laundry sections ) then vacuuming in the morning..some ppl also use brewers yeast & garlic supplements, didn't work for us & can also be very expensive when you have 4 dogs like we do LOL !! Take Care :)

On your way home, take him by the vet for his shots (you do have a vet, of course, make an appointment beforehand)
that way you can discuss things like flea control/prevention, nutrition, heartworm/parasite control etc.
There are products especially made for puppies - but since you're taking him in for his shots anyway, talk with your vet about various options available to you.

You really need to either ask your vet or just look on the product and see what it says about how old the dog needs to be. We got frontline for our puppy when she was about 3 months old. I know you can't use flea shampoo until they are 12 weeks old. Personally I would wait a little bit.. Congratulations on your new puppy....

If he's only going to be in the house a few weeks like (2) Just bath in palmolive, let it set for a couple of minutes and rinse of the puppy then you have time to go to the vets or go to a place that sells flea control( i see everyone saying frontline) but i don't care for frontline i prefer advantage. I understood it to be that frontine neuters the fleas and advantage kills them. Plus we never had good luck with frontline we seem to with advatage.

I would check with your vet and take the puppy in for a checkup first. Then you can ask the vet for advantage or frontline and they will give you what is right for your pup. If it has flees when you bring it home, Give it a quick bath with flea shampoo and then make sure you put conditioner on the pup to keep its skin from getting dry.

Yes you can. When I took my puppy to her first vet visit she was 8 weeks old. My vet gave us a sample of Frontline and said because of her small size (at the time just over 3 pounds) to apply ¼ of the dose and to watch for any allergic reactions. She had no problems with it. You give it once a month, her second time she weighed about 5 pounds and I gave her ¾ the full dose application and her next dose I will give her the full dose. If you have any more doubts call your vet.

I am not sure but I think that Advantage offers puppies their first flea treatment for free. My vet gave my puppy his first flea treatment for free.

Yes you can get Frontline for puppies at your vets. You must weigh your pup to make sure first he is within the weight limits of the Frontline. Then you can purchase the right kind for the weight and age of your pup.

yes I got a special shampoo for puppies to get rid of fleas and ticks from petco it also has oatmeal in it so it works really well smells great too.
I then at 10weeks went to my vet got her 2nd round of shots and also got flea medicine and heartworm preventative. They do it monthly instead of getting a pack of six because their weight gain is so significant that you may get a six pack and it won't work anymore because it's not the right pounds.....
I would have gotten it earlier but her 1st shots were through her breeder so her 2nd round of shots were her first time to my vet :)
