He's about 3 years old, has not been eating, drinking or using the litter box for about 48 hours. Also, appears to be bloated, his nose is damp and dripping with mouth open.

That sounds like the cat has gotten into something toxic to me. Take it to the vet immeditately!

Yes. Get this cat to a vet. Sounds as though it has ingested something toxic, or has an infection. Either way, kitty needs medical care as only a vet can tell you what is wrong.

Cat's that don't eat for 24 hours or more are at risk to develop Hepatic Lipidosis, or fatty liver disease. Basically, the body starts sending fat cells to the liver to process for energy. The liver isn't all that great at processing fat, though, so it starts accumulating in and around the liver. End result is liver failure and death. Kitty needs to get food in their system NOW.

If vet care is too expensive - as it's the main excuse on this forum - you can consult these links. They provide sources for monetary help in vet bills.

How much more serious does this need to be before you take him to the vet? I've seen dying animals that look better than this!

The bloated abdomen is very serious, and the open mouth indicates he is in great distress. Please get him to an emergency vet without further delay if you have any chance of helping him.

Almost sounds like he has a blockage of some kind and needs medical attention fast. I would call the vet right away. Tell them it is an emergency and you need to get in now.

What are you waiting for??? Your cat is obviously suffering. Take him to the vet pronto.

When a cat stops eating and drinking, it is a very bad sign. Do the responsible thing, please!
