Absolutely on the non-injured side...the cane should move forward in coordination with the injured leg on the opposite side. Plant weight on the injured leg and cane at the same time and take a normal length step with the non-injured leg.

Listen to everyone who has said it goes on the good side, NOT the hurt side. I just had some left knee surgeries and walked with one crutch and then a cane and I put them on my right side.

the cane is to be used on the side opposite the hurt leg. so u can support yourself whilr walking on that leg better. i was told by a physical therapist and it worked better for me while i had to use one.

Hold the cane in the hand on your unaffected side so that it provides support to the opposite lower limb. Always have the unaffected lower limb assume the first full weight-bearing step on level surfaces.
