Freon is no longer used in air conditioning. And to recharge an empty cell requires a mechanic. You're looking at about $500.

If you don't know and can't understand the directions on the recharge kit, you shoudl go to a shop. If you add the wrong amount your performance will be comprimised. Also if you don't add the proper amount of oil as well you could damage your A/C components.
You are dealing with R134 A not the old R-12. More is not better anymore. Are you sure that your system is even low? You need to make sure of these things or you could cause yourself a big headache down the road.
I'm not trying to say you can't do something, just trying to look out for you here.

You don't . Freon has been replaced as the air conditioning fluid by something else who's name escapes me. If you need to add refrigerant, you will likely either need to pay a large premium or (cheaper) switch your system over.

In the Vacuum line of the compressor, same place you check for levels & leaks. Do not attempt to fill unless experienced!!! this can be extremely dangerous.

low pressure side of the compressor.if you don't know where that is take you car to someone who services airconditioners. if yoy connect to high side you will blow the can up and hurt yourself.or kill yourself. ( i believe the connectors are a different size where you can't connect them wrong.)don't take a change sence you don't know.
