Religion cannot tolerate criticism because it's entirely based on a false premise -- that God exists. If someone were able to prove God is imaginary, the entire superstitious edifice of Christianity would collapse. For those who imagine moral behavior is the result of God's absolute authority, such a collapse amounts to the end of civilization.

The truth is that human civilization has developed beyond the need for dictatorial hierarchical tyranny. Modern civilized human beings use democracy to govern their affairs.

Son, if criticism and humor against religion is terrorism then we need to beware that we do not downplay terrorism by minimizing it, a typical method of dealing with a fearful thing.

If the report in the link you gave is accurate, no, that is not terrorism, at least it would not be considered so in this country where we are free to express opinions, even through humor.

Where has the Vatican called mocking the Pope terrorism? Killing Catholics because one hates the Pope or Catholicism or whatever in order to cause horror and oppression, now, that is terrorism and it is happening.
As a religious person i welcome advice and criticism when they are given sincerely and with a willingness to find out the truth and the good.

i don't think what the Vatican meant as terrorism was just the jokes per se. what the Vatican labeled as terrorism were the jokes being done IN FRONT OF AN EXCITABLE CROWD. i could understand how that could have violent consequences for the Vatican, hence the terrorism label.

i guess that's why jay leno (who makes jokes about priests all the time) doesn't get the same label: he does it in a relatively safer setting.

Because they take themselves entirely too seriously I suppose. Its not only the pope that feels that way its a LOT of religions. I suppose I am just super liberal. Its really not that big of a deal. I believe what I believe. I am thinking Isis has better things to do then worry about insults from people who don't even believe in Her. Believing in Her makes Her real. So if you don't, well then She doesn't pay all that much attention to you either.

The criticism is from the true actions of any religions! They should face with the truth which is the root from them!
