Everyone who chooses to. God is so loving, forgiving, caring, merciful and gracious. Yes, there are things we do that displease him, yet if we confess and truly repent, He is always ready to take us back. Like a spouse we know will never leave, or a parent that will never kick us out.
The relationship costs us very little, but cost Him very much. Yet he will never forsake us.

Can anyone truly have a great relationship with an abusive parent?
All you can do is cower in fear as he threatens you with punishment for not doing what he wants. And if you try to leave, he threatens you with an even more horrific fate.
I don't think anyone can have a great relationship with God. He is a vast, jealous, powerful being that is so far above mortals that you simply cannot be at his level. And it would be foolhardy to try to meet him on that level.

I would not say that my relationship with God is great but I do want it to get better and I am working everyday to become closer to him as well as an obedient servant of his. It's hard b/c the wordly temptations are their but it is a process. So hopefully one day i will be able to say that my relationship with god is GREAT.
