How can we bail him out in time for Cinco de Mayo celebrations.(Don't worry we're careful drinkers.)

I find it appalling that you mention to want to bail him out "in time for Cinco de Mayo celebrations." What you should do is wait until he is released and get him some help.

Must have been more than the drinking to still be in jail or perhaps its a DUI. call and find out how much the bail is... and then call a bondsman. He will go the bond for a fee... usually 10 percent of the actual bail. Unless the friend's Father is is undocumented and here illegally, then there may be more problems than you can deal with.

You can either talk to an attorney, or call one of those bail bond places in the yellow pages. I had to do it once for my ex. (Notice the EX). The local bail bond places will know the charges and what the bail is. And you either have to have cash or collateral. Like putting your car or house towards it. It's not fun, but it can usually be done...unless there's a more serious charge than drunkeness.

If he's been in jail for a week he probably has criminal charges pending upon him. He might be in there for awhile yet. You should call the place he's being held at and ask if there is a bond to get him out. There are also bond offices out there that will foot the bill for you if you pay them back.

If he's still in because his family cannot afford to get him out, do you want to risk losing a friend because they won't be able to repay you fo helping? This may sound harsh' but you might want to check with your friends family (other than him) and see what they think. Maybe there are other issues as to why he is still there.

obviously he had warrants or priors if they kept him in jail for a week. he might have a really high bond. call the jail, ask what his bail is. that simple.
