When a driver is out of the race early, he mentions as many sponsors as possible. if a sponsor feels that there product is not getting enough air time on race day, or is not put in a positive image of the driver, then they can possibly drop their sponsorship of that team. So when a driver mentions ten to twelve different sponsors, that can buy them some more time. Also, when a driver wins a race, they will list as many sponsors as possible because they might get a bonus if they get mentioned in victory lane.
In some cases it does not matter. Like when Richard Petty was in his declining years he was still getting sponsorship by STP. Petty became an icon to the sport and STP did not want to lose there big gun, even if he was not finishing races. The same goes for Dale jr. He could get 20 DNF's this season and Budweiser would still sponsor him in 2008.

I don't think it's as big of a deal, when most NASCAR fans think Dale Jr. they think Bud. and vice versa. I saw some Budweiser cards, with just the B on the front, and immediately thought of Dale Jr.

Dale Jr plugging Bud is almost redundant. There is no other driver more associated with their sponsor than he is to Bud with the possible exception of Gordon and DuPont. He does mention them more than you are recalling, at least that's what I have noticed, but he does not as much as other drivers because frankly he doesn't need to. Believe me, the people at Anheuser-Busch have no complaints with the exposure they are getting from Jr.

Junior does promotional work for Bud.This is in form of public service messages, commercials, and talks with youth groups.
The Bud logo is prominent during these interviews.

I remember back some years before his daddy died that he used to fuss at Jr for wearing his hat backwards stating that his sponsor couldn't be seen if his hat wasn't facing forward.
But I do hear him say "...My Budweiser Chevy..." pretty often.

Your wrong. Jr is always saying something about his Bud Chevy. And, when he wins, he always thanks Bud.

You may not have been listening closely, he always says my budweiser chevy.
It is not as pronnounced as Waltrip saying his sponsers.
