i had a mild fender bender in a parking lot. it was my fault. i don't want my husband to know about this. my question is...instead of the claim being showed on the monthly bill, can i get a separate bill (for the claim) sent to me?

There is no "monthly bill" sent by your insurance company that would outline a claim. Basically what happens is you file the claim with your insurance company - and depending on the states regulations, the amount of the damages, and the percentage at fault you are, when your policy renews, your premium *may* increase. So.. you basically have nothing to worry about until you get your premium bill. But a bill outlining the claim will not be sent to your home.

I am not sure about your carrier or your system since you did not give your location, so I can only relate to the US system.

Typically, if you have an 'at fault' accident, there is no 'monthly bill' notification. Your company simply pays for the other person's loss and then acts accordingly.

If you have an annual contract, then your rates may be reviewed at the end of that contract period and you may have some kind of adjustment. Even insurance with a monthly premium is generally just an annual policy with monthly payments.

If YOUR car was also damaged and is to be repaired, they will eventually give you a check for the damage, less your deductible, but, again, there is no monthly notification.

Now if you are in the UK, or some other country all of the above may not apply.

good luck...

No, you can't get a bill for the normal premium and a separate bill for the increase due to the claim. If the damages were under a certain dollar amount most companies will not charge you more. Call your agent and find out if the policy will be surcharged due to the accident.

all you pay for in an at fault accident is your deductible.. they pay the rest... so their is no bill. Only way he will know is if he ever calls the insurance company to inquire about rates they will tell him.... But.. shouldnt you be able to talk to your husband about this kind of stuff?

Honey, you have WAY bigger problems than insurance rates here. If you are afraid to tell hubby you dented a fender then I suggest you two get marriage counseling at once.
