hhmmm...im thinking of the guy that you've met in person, b/c you actually have seen him and talked to him. the internet is full of weird-os.

They are both ultimately dangerous because you don't really know the person until you are involved with them. The person you know as a casual friend could be a freak as a boyfriend, the person on the internet could also be nothing like they have described or acted.
The best bet in both cases is to have a few "safe" dates with either. Have the date in a public place, dinner, movie and the like, and meet there.DO NOT GET PICKED UP. This way if it gets or goes bad you have a way out.
Dating can be risky no matter who you pick, it is always best to be careful - either way.

Internet. At least you know the guy in prison already has strikes against him and it may be for rape, manslaughter, etc. Internet dating isn't totally safe, but at least there are services which screen prospects if you choose to use them. Some dates may turn out to be no worse than a bad blind date and nothing more, or they could turn out really good, depending on how much background you can gather on the guy

Interesting question considering your alias. Who's in more danger here, you or him?
Anyway, I would think it's harder for a guy to keep up a web of lies if you can see his face, so my vote would be the guy you met live would be safer, on average.

there is no way to say --- the internet gives you a chance to talk more before you meet and there is an equal chance of meeting a crazy in person or on the internet --- just use the same precautions in both cases --- meet in a public place --- get to know them and then take it from there ---- best wishes
