I recall reading somewhere that what you are hearing when the dancers dance is not their shoes hitting the floor but in fact a recording that they dance along to. Is this true? And can you cite a source?

I don't remember where I saw this but I know I saw it and my parents don't believe me.

I think the producers took a gamble and recorded the synced steps to enhance the audience's experience. Remember, Riverdance is a commercial production, not a traditional art event. I think the music and concept is glorious. I still remember the first time I walked into a gift shop in Ireland in 1994 and heard Bill Whelan's single playing. The shop owner sold me her copy and I've been playing it ever since.

I believe it is the dancers.
