I have a copy of XP Professional-Retail that is on an old computer of mine. I built a new computer and would like to install XP on it. If I uninstall windows on the old computer while I am connected to the internet, will it deactivate the license so I can do a new install? Thanks for any help...

Uhm, yeah, you usually don't have to activate the Windows. You definitely don't have to remove it from the old computer in order to reactivate it on the new computer.

I've never had the problem in which I need to reactivate the license a new system. Windows installation to my knowledge is not like an Adobe product...it doesn't remember.

If you do have a problem you just need to call the manufacturer of the old computer and let them know that you just want to switch the license over.

you could create a separate partition using the homestead windows ninety 8 CD. you could deploy homestead windows ninety 8 on that partition. That way, you'll have both operating structures. i'm merely curious on why you're setting up Win98. My suggestion..do not connect with the internet using ninety 8.

Ask Microsoft for assistance so you could transfer the license to the new drive.
