It depends on the type of argument. There are several ways to check facts to see who's right or wrong. Arguments based on memory or perception are not so easily settled. In those cases you have two choices. You can push on with your argument and draw friends and family into taking sides. Or you can just drop it. Agree to disagree on the matter. If the disagreement is with someone close to you, ask yourself this question; Is it more important to you to be right or in a peaceful relationship. Good luck.

Do you mean argument in the philosophical sense? Then it is a lovely walk through a set of premises batting back and forth why a given premise should be accepted as true.

Do you mean in the sense that most commonly appears here in Y!A? Have no fear, they are not arguments. :)

Find common ground based on what you can agree on. Then continue to discuss your differences in a positive manner each attempting to understand the others position. You may find that there really is not as much that you do not agree with as you first thought.

Agreeing to part amiably and to continue to disagree. Not all issues may be solved, some issues are without solution.

This particular proverb is true among relatives and friends, and perhaps strangers: ."he that keeps talking about a matter is separating those familiar with one another. " (Proverbs 17:9)
