I would like to know how christians can deny evolution and say simply.....one giant flood created those fossils.

I work as a mineral/fossil miner and I want to ask.........

If those fossils are from one giant flood then how are there hundreds of different layers each containing its own life forms and sedimentary minerals?

Some of these layers are over 50 feet thick. The layers on the bottom have the most primative life forms and each layer above has more complex life forms.

The fossil record world wide shows these same layers and the same trend of life forms.

In some cases marine life has intersected with plant & animal life showing periods of flooding followed by that of land.

interesting, but fossils do not filter by size, they do not filter at all. Some of the largest fossils are in the middle of the fossil record. while some of the smalles are sitting at the bottom

Both huge and small fossils are all found in the same layers.

The record had a obvious trend of primative to more advance throught the layers. The layers themselves are made up of different mineral/organic compunds.

The layers are in fact so obvious that a entire record of the fossils and time period of which they are from can easily be calculated.

Not all Christians deny Evolutiuon.

The Catholic Church does not take the stories of creation in the Bible literally. Catholics believe the book of Genesis tells religious truth and not necessarily historical fact.

One of the religious truths is that God created everything and declared all was good.

Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.

On August 12, 1950 Pope Pius XII said in his encyclical Humani generis:

The Teaching Authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter - for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God.

Here is the complete encyclical: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xii/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xii_enc_12081950_humani-generis_en.html

The Church supports science in the discovery of God's creation. At this time, the theory of evolution is the most logical scientific explanation. However tomorrow someone may come up with a better idea.

As long as we believe that God started the whole thing, both the Bible and modern science can live in harmony.

With love in Christ.

If you read the scriptures, especially the first chapter of Genesis, you see an extremely compact account of the earth's primitive history.

First, the point is made that the earth was created in the beginning. Thus that could very well be millions or billions of years ago! In fact, the Bible uses the word "eternity ago" or some such near phrase.

Then the 6 creative days. Bible students have no knowledge about their length except that one day must be beyond 7000 years and perhaps much longer? We simply do not know?

Next, you must consider that what is said is brief in the extreme. The only real knowledge about the "exact process" God used to create is in regard to man. God is so kind as to tell us that he made us from scratch.

It would not have done much for our egos, if he had told us he took a chicken egg and made some additions to its genes and that became us, right? So, in this we saw his wisdom and love.

How he created the others and how long ago. Well, since we do not know the length of the creative days -- speculate all you will.

There is perhaps something that may give some interesting insights into the Biblical account about the deluge.

I would guess that a relatively small percentage of religious people believe literally in the Genesis story (except for the freaks). I most reasonably people believe god created evolution. Amazing how adept theists are:

1.) Make a theory about the world (which may or may not rely on any empirical evidence whatsoever).
2.) Sanctify said theory. (i.e. It's true because god said so.)
3.) Persist in the belief of said theory despite overwhelming evidence that it is invalid.
4.) Rather than relent, synthesize said overwhelming evidence with old supernatural theory to create the New and Improved Supernatural Theory.
5.) Repeat

A friend of mine is a first officer (co-pilot) for a commercial airline based out of Phoenix. One month he was scheduled with a particular captain who pointed to the Grand Canyon as they were flying over it and said, "I can't believe some people think it took thousands of years for that to form. It's obvious it happened during Noah's flood." I love the irony--he is advanced enough to be able to operate a very sophisticated machine like a jet, yet the belief in the flood theory makes one think he wouldn't be able to operate an ox cart.

I believe there was more than one flood.

If you look other places in the Bible than just Genesis 1:1, you will see that much happened before "In the beginning".

In Revelations and I believe Ezekiel, it talks of the fallout between God and Lucifer. And, how God hovered over the waters and then put boundaries on the waters. What you just stated in your question kind of goes along with what I just said.

Do I understand everything about how the world was created, no. Do you or any other person, no. Even the Big Bang Theory can't explain where the molecules came from that caused the "Bang".

You've managed to gather mostly statements about how stupid believers are, but nothing that addresses what you asked. Maybe that's what you were really after. I don't know.

In the event you have a genuine interest in the subject, and not being a geologist myself, I refer you to Tas Walker (link below), who is a geologist. He also holds other degrees. Mr. Walker is just one of many scientists, including geologists, that offer information other than yours.

I don't suggest that you will change you mind, but if you don't expand it, you should not be accusing Christians or anyone else of narrow minded or blind belief. You will be doing the same thing.

Because, the "primitive" life forms are smaller and filter out first. Then the bigger and bigger as you go up. The fact that it shows the same all over the planet is proof of a single catastrophic event.
I was taught by an invertebrate paleontologist. So I know what I am talking about. We get the the age of the rock by the fossils in the rock, and we know the age of the rock by the fossils in them. CIRCULAR REASONING. Anyway, go to drdino.com and check out his videos, they explain this better.

"Recorded history is only about 6000 years old and we do not even have
an accurate record of that. But human beings have been on the earth
for over 18,000,000 years and have evolved through many cataclysms
that have caused numerous civilizations to come and go leaving little
record that they even existed."

funny how they like to over intelectuallise bs and then decide to believe simple nonsense like a mass flood, which has no bearing in geological terms
