It is called the Metropolitan Community Church. The Cathedral of Hope in Dallas, Texas until recently was associated with this denomination, and has over 3,000 members.

A couple of years ago in the middle of the Sunday morning service at the Dallas church... a fundamentalist preacher interrupted the service and went to the front of the church and started waving his Bible yelling at everyone and over shouting the pastor...saying that they were going to hell. Since that time the church has had to employ armed security officers to protect the congregants.

Regardless of whether you feel that gay is a sin or not...
How would you feel if someone from another denomination interrupted your service in such a manner?

If you are Baptist...how would you feel if a Mormon interrupted your service shouting at you...if JW's, or Presbyterian...how would you feel if a Muslim interrupted your service?

Is this of God? Aren't fundamentalists going too far..bordering on harrasment?

Fundamentalists always go too far. Everyone feels that their own beliefs are correct, otherwise they wouldn't believe what they do. Unfortunately, these beliefs often support the fact that other people are wrong and should be harrassed / corrected / eliminated. Even mainstream religions teach that other religions are bad, and often that their followers should be "corrected" to various degrees.

If someone from another denomination disrupted my service, I would definitely feel violated.

We should all accept each other. Unfortunately, this goes against just about every religion's underlying teachings. Regardless of how much "love thy neighbor" there is on the surface, most religions teach that "if you don't pray OUR way, you're likely to go to hell." How much acceptance can that foster?

Well People think as being homosexual as a race, but through many eyes being gay is a sin, but it's not, God created this planet for people to have there own mind and willpower, and they were born that way, it's not thier fault there gay but they just are, but waving the Holy Bible in a church saying they were going to hell is just a disgrace to God...

6:59 And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record. 6:60 And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return; then He will inform you about what you used to do. The Qur'an clearly states that there is this waiting period before Judgement Day and we Muslims believe that Jesus must return first before Judgement will happen.

Although I'm not the best of religion, and although I probably have no right to speak, religion is good, but only in moderation. How many wars have been fought over religion? It gives us peace to know how we were made, and what happens after death, but how many people have taken it too far such as the above example of yours, or such as extremist Muslims attacking us because they interpreted the Kuran as they see fit. Take what I say however you'd like to, but I think religion is like alcohol and should only be taken in moderation.

Yes. That is going too far. That is 10 shades of wrong.

But apparently yahoo is homophobic as well. I made a reply to an anti-gay question - telling this person to mind their own business. Yahoo sent me a note saying they'd deleted it as "objectionable."

You are absolutely correct, fundamentalists are going way too far!! The egos of these people are amazing, along with their interpretation of the bible. To me it's simple, and I don't see how it is so easily over looked.........
"JUDGE NOT, LET YOU BE JUDGED".

In one word yes. Obviously this isn't everyone, but the few who are hateful, judgemental, and over enthusiastic and it gives Christians and Christianity a bad name. THESE are the people that are driving people from the Christian religion.

I think it is extremely rude and disrespectful for anyone to disrupt someone's worship service. The preacher who did that should be ashamed of himself.

Why anyone especially gay people still have any use for religion is a mystery to me and this type of thing just reinforces that.

That person would be escorted out of our Church.
If further trouble, law enforcement would be called.
