Here's some horror stories http://www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=9
And here's some advice. If you do decide to go for it (I have quite a few piercings but none of them in places I couldn't show a stranger!) Go to a piercing salon and ask them to let you look around. If they don't let you, or won't make an appointment for you to come back for an informal chat, don't get pierced there. A good rule of thumb is that if they are willing to risk losing money by letting you talk yourself out of a piercing then they are probably trustworthy. Do follow the piercers advice about managing your piercing and do remember that with tongue piercings your dental bills may well go up. Also (and I know I sound old and boring here) be sure that you really do want to modify your body this way. Is it really worth the risk, pain and money if you are going to be bored with it after a few weeks. Would having a piercing effect how people may perceive you at work, does that worry you? What do the people around you think? (If ten out of ten say don't do it then they probably have a point!)
PS If anyone is thinking of having cartilage piercings make sure it is done with a needle and not a gun! (Reduces pain and healing time significantly!)

I have my ears & my eyebrow pierced and also like you would love my tongue done.I work in the manufacturing industry however & would be required to take the piercing out, hence why I have not gone ahead.Good luck though if you do decide, just make sure you go to a good reputable piercer who knows exactly what they are doing!!

I had a horizontal cl*thood piercing for my fortieth and that i like it, suited 20 seconds of affliction i've got ever persevered. i like tasteful piercings on persons, no longer into pepsi cans throughout the ears or that style of element.

got my tongue pierced about 4 years ago - little trouble at the time to heal (it's generally a quick-healing piercing), have had basically no trouble with it ever since - as long as you get someone reputable to pierce it, and look after it while it's healing, it's unlikely to cause you any problems.

I used to love mine a lot... now I barely notice they're there, lol. Yes, there are a lot of horror stories about there about tongue piercings, but they are usually be people that either went to crappy piercing studios or didn't take care of theirs. Get yours done by a clean, reputable piercer, and take care of it, and you shouldn't have a problem.

I think that piercing is fine and as someone with experience of having their tongue pierced, I find it boring- its about as individual as having your earlobes pierced or your nose. I took mine out after a few months because it was boring, unhygienic (your food gets stuck to it) and an inconvenience.

Not many people are attracted to people with body piercings. I feel paranoid when ever I see people with body piercings. Plus, do you really want to go through the pain of getting your tongue pierced?
