With resources dwindling and the polar caps melting, do you think it would be best to limit the amount of children someone can have? Would you agree to such a thing? How does would religion effect such policy.

probably this would never happen but that doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

China has done that. They have a one child per family law, enforced by doing abortions on women against their will in some cases. That is the kind of thing that totalitarian governments do to their people and I want NONE of that! Anyway, birth rates are falling world wide. The U.S. has a very low birth rate. The only proven population control is wealth. The birth rate is low in rich countries and high in poor countries. Even in China, poor families get away with more than one child in many cases, but the rich Chinese in the new industrial cities have few children. This is because rich people do not depend on children for security in their old age; they depend on money. In 50 years the only place left with high birth rates will be Africa, because Africa will be the only poor place left on Earth.

Jason,

The best and only positive way to limit the number of new children born is to effectively neuter more than half of the male population. Waddayasay Jason, wanna be the first in the nut chopping line? Hmmmm...????

I dont see that happening. What are they going to do to the person that "accidently" went over the limit? make them have an abortion? It would never work.
