I have 6 DVD's on my HDD and i want to put them onto one 8.5gb dvd.

DVD shrink and nero etc will only shrink a dvd to 50% its original size for some reason.

However, if i tell nero i want to 'convert DVDs to Nero Digital (mpeg4)' all of a sudden it has no problem.

I thought it was problem solved but i cant get Nero to burn mpeg4 files to DVD in DVD format so it can be played on a standard player.

Can anyone help either with a method to increse the level of compression or putting nero mp4 files onto a dvd that can be read by all players?

Cheers :o)

Programs like Roxio's DVDIT allow you to lower the bitrate
of each movie.
Lowered too much you will see quality degrade.

Burn MP4 files as data files, especially to a 8.5 disc
Also, I would not Recommend Nero
Personally I recommend ROXIO suite, but its your choice
Your Player Choice would be significant. Not All DVD disc players can play MP4, but some can play DIVx files, which means even better file compression. If you can get the necessary Divx software then this will work
Your widest type range and best value DVD player is a Phillips DVP 642 or its most recent successor. I have a DVP642 and it has been so good I have had no reason to upgrade yet; The DVP 642 plays all zones, multiple types, etc... under 63 US dollars from Amazon

The mp4 format only works on computers. Standard DVD players have not yet adapted to the mp4 format. It will probably be 3-4 years before the majority of DVD players will be able to use mp4. At that time, it is considered a "computer only" format.
