Aerosol spray cans on Asian flights?

I will be traveling between the Phillipines and Thailand. I know about the gels and liquids policy. But what about spray cans? Like deodorant,etc,etc?

At least as far as the rules within the U.S. go, aerosols are grouped under the same policy as liquids, creams, and gels -- i.e.: if you're carrying them in your hand luggage, they need to be in a container no bigger than 3oz, and they need to be placed in a single quart-sized Ziplock bag and taken out separately for security.

Flying within Asia, you might see a SLIGHTT leniency in the rules, but I don't think it's particularly worth risking -- you don't state which airline you're flying with, but Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines both adhere to the same guidelines as TSA set up in the U.S. (I've given you a link below), and the latter even states that on flights to and from the Philippines "all liquid or gel-like substances such as beverages, suntan lotions, shampoos, creams, toothpaste, hair gels and other items of similar consistency are banned from cabin baggage." (True, they don't make mention of aerosols like deodorant, but since aerosols are normally grouped with liquids/gels/creams, you can assume there's a good chance they might be included too.)

Bottom line: it'll probably give you more peace of mind -- and possibly less hassle at the security check -- if you just pack your deodorant (and other aerosols) in the baggage you check, or else find a mini or trial-sized deodorant you can carry on in your hand luggage. This way, you won't be taking any risks, and you'll be right regardless.
