Hi
we are now desperate, we booked a family holiday/wedding in January in the states my son realised after we booked that he may need a visa because he got a speeding conviction 4 years ago so he went through the motions of the interveiw which he could not get till March, he then got various documents from the police that they required and it was all collected by courier on 23rd April having been told at his interveiw it would take 3-5 days its now 10 days and its not back and we fly tommorrow (dont think he will be coming) any idea how we can get hold of the embassy had no luck so far the couriers are great but the Embassy no help at all, this is our last ditch attempt if someone has an email address where they dont come back unread.

Thanks
Linda

I did not think speeding tickets count for a visa from the embassy,my brother in law has 8 points for speeding but still went to new york last year on the visa waiver program and had no problem getting in.
,try reading the forum on Holiday truths they may have some use full information for you about speeding tickets etc
,i know of some people who have risked going to the USA with out a visa ,who had major convictions ,some got in and some got deported,it all depends on the immigration officer at the airport,
even with a visa you can still be denied entry ,again it comes down to the immigration officer.
good luck and sorry i can't be of anymore help.

When you enter the USA if you are British you have to sign a declaration that you haven't done this that or the other.
According to airfares.co.uk you have to answer the following question on the entry form and I remember this from the times that I've been
"Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance; or have been arrested or convicted for two or more offenses for which the aggregate sentance to confinement was five years or more; or have been a controlled substance trafficker; or are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities ?"
Your son could honestly answer no to this question but several websites recommend that people with any conviction should own up to the US embassy in advance.
Perhaps he shouldn't have said anything in the first place but now he's put his hand up travelling would be a risk.
Perhaps you could talk to the immigration office at the airport that you are flying into and see what they think but don't get your hopes up.
To show how stupid this is the you also have to declare on the entry form that you are not a spy or terrorist
