buy a spray bottle or an old Windex bottle, any kind of spray bottle, fill it up with water, and spray the cats with a little water ever time they get near the birds. they will learn quickly, and associate the cage with the water, and will not go near the bird cage. when you're not at home you will have to keep the cat's out of that room. it can be kind of fun. it doesn't hurt the cats at all just scares them, give them a taste of there own medicine.

It may not work for such a stimulus as birds, but you could try cutting up orange peel and putting it arund the aviary. I keep cats, foxes and dogs off my lawn doing this. It is cheap and painless to all concerned.

Ive found that getting a spritz bottle with water in it helps to safely discipline a cat. They despise water and if you keep it handy near the bird cage, every time they go near it, give them a good spritz of water and they will run. Eventually they learn that the water is punishment, and learn to stay away/off things you dont want them on

Can you lock the bird aviary up away from them?

Cats naturally enjoy movement and like to chase. If you keep them well fed they may be diverted to another game.Play with them and divert their attention from the moving, flying birds.
