There was a smattering of religions. And those of a particular region would have a name similar to allah, al iah if I remember right. The local God that was central to their beliefs the would call by that name.

There were of course Jewish and Christian people in the area, the Apostle Paul himself was in Arabia for a time. There was also Zoroastrianism there from the Persian influence.

Before the advent of Islam, the cities of Makkah, Madina (was previously known as Yathrib) were under the control of the strongest tribe who was also the leader as far as religious teachings go. The name of the tribe was Quraysh.

Qurayshis were statue worshippers. They had many statue gods and they were politically and religiously the strongest tribe around.

There were also Jewish tribes but their numbers were small and they were not mainstream.

Jesus speaks of hell in Revelation 19-22 chapters torment forever, gnashing teeth, and weeping, Also he speaks there about the joy of heaven for all who will repent and let him save them and become thier best friend then to share as joint heirs heaven with him! if you think you can reject this and earn heaven-instead of having Him save and help you as your best friend-Jesus came to earth as I quoted predicted by Isaiah to be almighty God for each of us.

What happened to me during last few years?? My excitement to study Qu’ran turned to dismay, emptiness as I progressed more to read and understand the meaning of words. I read about the offensive wars and the bloody conquests made to spread Islam. I turned page after page to read about Muslim attitudes towards "infidels," Christians and Jews who would not convert to Islam.

As the Hadith states-thank God today we have prisons for things like this and for those that murder others because they are not of the same muslim sect or whatever.

I am glad as a person I took time to consider what I was taught was wrong when I read the Bible and learned to care about others and know Jesus the Messiah personally as my best friend.
