~~~ Hi yellowstonescanines. I love the smell of baking bread. My dad worked at Wonder Bread all my life until he retired,so the smell is stuck in my head. It reminds me of Dad coming home from work all covered in flour. He used to take me to work with him sometimes when he was actually off; b ecause he knew I liked it over there so much. They'd give me those little loaves of bread they used to hand out to the Wonder Bread tourists. That was fun. Made me feel like a big shot,with my bakes cap on. Today I live near that same bakery and on windy days I can smell the baking bread. Brings back those fond memories. Dad used to bake at home too,and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the baker in Heaven today.~~~
Out of all the food my mom cooked growing up I'd have to choose the Burned Liver Leather. We tried to eat this special delicacy several times a month until it was discovered that pig liver was the least healthy, not the most! Even our dog, Igor, got quite tired of it quickly!
Whoever moved into the apartment after us found a large supply behind the refrigerator. With a side of squash!
I have a fondness for home-made bread.It evokes memories of my Mom and my Grandmother.Memories of happy times,alot of what went on in the home took place in the kitchen.I also like the smell of homemade strawberry/rhubarb jam it reminds of summer when it was warm and we would be on vacation at my grandparents.Everyone is gone now but when I smell certain things it brings back beautiful memories.
Marzipan, my mother always gave us Marzipan bars at Christmas and Easter. I can't help but remember her and my childhood whenever I have some. She's been gone for about 12 years now.
when we were kids, we couldn't afford to go to the fish shop so Mum used to make us hot chips and wrap them in Newspaper just like the shop. It was great. We thought we were rich!
