Usually when I'm shopping but sometimes I'm so eclectic that colors just pop around as I go.
Contrast is good; who finds a plate with different shades of gray attractive besides the Brits? [just kidding!]
Sometimes I'll add frozen corn or Julianne bell peppers to a sauce or dish just for color.
I was invited to a friend of a friend's house just for dinner. She tried to get the color of the sauce to match the matching tablecloth, drapes and rug. She wasn't a very good cook but everything looked just great.
I guess!

Ya know this is an interesting question. I like to have the greens, reds or whatever makes a meal look appetizing but all too often, although Im not consciously aware that Ive got color on my mind, the whole meal turns out to be one color! Like mac and cheese, with acorn squash and cauliflower with cheese. ORANGE!! I guess I should be more aware of it if its important to me...which it is. Nice question! Ive never really thought about it like this!

well they say the more colours the more healthier it is but I eat all my meals at a cafeteria and it can be hard to get a healthy meal but when I prepare meals I like doing stirfrys because you can use so many different colours like purple cabbage and red and yellow capsicum. I just think ooo that looks pretty but I don't purposly set out to use as many colours as I can.
the only colour I had for tea last night was brown- as in a meat pie- not very healthy at all.

Cooks in general would do so and for a complete meal, it has to balance, not every dish is fried or boiled in a meal, it has to be mixed.
As for color, it would make the food served more appetizing, allowing food to be compensated if it does not taste as expected, though it would help too.

Absolutely..I think color makes food look more appealing and appetizing. It, also, shows the cook is creative and thought about his dish preparation. For example: A tossed salad looks more inviting with the colors of red (tomatoes and/or red peppers) Orange (Carrots) Purple (using red onion and/or cabbage) white (cucumber) etc... In my opinion: For those who like cooking and eating for that matter COLOR is very important and fun too.

I actually do. I like the food to look appetizing. Presentation is the key. I heard that colors Red Yellow Green are suppose to entice hunger.
In my meal I had green, orange and yellow. LOL, I'm getting hungry....

I always try to think of eye pleasing presentation when cooking. We had special tostadas for dinner last night with ground beef, refried beans, peppers, cheddar cheese, guacamole, fresh tomatoes, and cilantro.

I eat very colourful because I love good food with loads of vitamins etc. Especially when I cook diff. vegetables i want at least 3 diff. ones on my plate because people also eat with their eyes (presentation)!
