The Christian god is credited with all manner of atrocities including torture and mass slaughter. Is it right to worship such a character? It seems a bit hypocritical to profess love and praise for him whilst at the same time condemning people who committed the same kinds of horrors in Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany, does it not?

Hey, people always found baddies cool. I mean, there's an entire sect that worships Darth Vader. Seriously. The cooler, badder, more influential as a fictional work character is, the more supporters it is likely to get.

The manner in which we worship our god/s and view them (predominantly loving, revengeful, strict etc) keeps on changing as society changes. The scriptures of Christianity are the same but the christian god now seems much more benign than a couple of centuries ago.
The muslim god now seems to have appropriated the then place of the christian God.
The issue then basically is not what God is supposed to have said in the scriptures - most of it is rubbish anyway- but how we worship him.
God can be viewed as evil or loving - It is all upto the individual and society.
Of course the answer presupposes that there is a God otherwise the reply is very short.

The most troubling thing is that God as the creator of ALL things is ultimately responsible for the creation of evil. There's just no way around that. Regardless of whether this god is real or not, it begs the question, "Why evil?" Naturally it is because believers say that God has a plan, but they'll be damned if they know what it is.

Wow, hmmm. You've got some seriously passionate aggression built up against Him, don't ya? Yeah, it's not like I don't know about what you're talking about.

Yeah, I get online here, bored as hell after a punk rock show, and then try my best to annoy someone online...but why?

I have to admit that you are wrong, though you bring up some valuable points. You want to compare the Nazi's plan to the Lord's plan, be my guest. My guess is that you know better than that.

It's pretty funny. I have spent the better part of the last 4 years in Germany, and they love having the picture of Christ all over their restaurants, homes, etc. Do they know him? I don't know. What I do know is that doesn't matter. He loves us.

There is nothing wrong in my opinion because it's merely a character. Even though dictators and tyrants are the 'baddies' , all of us to a certain extent admire them for some of their qualities and abilities. But, if your conscience is bugging u, then, best to not worship. At least, that's what i think

Compared to the amount of people God has destroyed, Satan is a relatively peaceful character.
