i think a better question would be, "do christians and muslims both have a correct understanding of what God is like?" to this, the answer is a definitely no. there are several crucial differences between the christian and muslim concepts of God. both faiths cannot be correct.
i believe that christianity has the correct view of God because there can be no salvation unless sin is paid for. only God could pay such a price. only by becoming a human being could God die on our behalf, paying the penalty for our sins. hope this helps

Although religions were inspired by God, they were thought out by men, so they are not perfect. Each major religion hit the nail on the head in some aspects and missed the mark in some other aspects. So, yes, Christian God and Islamic God are the same God, but seen from different angles.
It's like the story of two blind men and an elephant. Their different concepts of the elephant depend of which parts they touch.
And don't think there could be a "unifying" religion that collects all the aspects. Religions are like works of art, they can't be broken into constituent parts and reassembled differently.
Finally, saying that Christianity is better than Islam or vice versa is like saying that Michelangelo is better than Leonardo da Vinci or vice versa. They're very different, but both great, and both revealing some basic aspects of God and humanity.

If you subscribe to the beliefs I hold, then the answer is yes...and no. The true God is not the God of the Christians. And he is not the God of the Muslims. Or the Jews. None of these religions follows God to the letter of his law. Christians forsake God's Holy Sabbath by worshiping on Sunday, the first day of the week, the holy day of the ancient Pagans, as opposed to the seventh-day, as God commanded. The Muslim God calls for the murder of all who do not accept the teachings of Allah and Muhammad. This is contrary to the true God. The Jews reject God's son, Jesus and the gift He gave by laying down his life so that God's children could live eternally. If you are truly seeking the Lord, then it is wise you do not follow any religion with a label or a building. God's house isn't made of wood and stone, it is in your heart. Study for yourself, with the Lord's guidance. No man can explain God's word to anyone better than God, through his Holy Spirit, can Himself. That's my two cents, anyway.

Yes. Completely. No questions. People just interpret things differently. The Jewish God is also the same God.

No. They claim two different things. The biblical God claims amongst other things that Isaac was the Child of promise, and Ismael was the son of the flesh.
And it also claims that Jesus is the Son of God.
The god found in the koran denies these things.

He is! Allah is just an Arabic translation for the title God.
The name is still Jehovah, and I have no translation for that wonderful name. Yes, I know there is one, I'm just not Arabic.
The title in any laguage still is not a proper name, and could be the reason so many prayers aren't answered.
Would you respond to "Hey You" from a distance?
Probably not. Same with Jehovah, you must get close to him to be heard. And.....to do that you must get to know him personally!
