My 17yr old was layed on her bed last nite looking at the cellin which is paperd with blown vinly ... rite the question is how do they get the patten on it you know the textured finish .... strange strange question i know but hey who am i to question ..... am thinking she could have asked me much worse !!!

Its all done at some speed in huge mills with embosed rollers with the pattern on them.
The real trick is when they get the embossed print to line up with the printed finish on the roll so you get the full 3d effect from the finish. remember old brick wall paper awful the speed it works at is mind boggling.
The one big bonus is that your daughter still is brave enough to ask the question in the first place. shows she has an enquireing mind get the discovery channels and watch how do they do that and how its made fascinating and just long enough so you don`t get too bored.

when the paper is manufactured the pulp is made to pass through "dye" . This gives a textured finish to the paper when it comes out from the mill. Thereafter it is painted depending on the choice of end users.

when the paper is in a wet/soggy condition during manufacturing process, it is passed over Rollers, which have the pattern etched on them.
