Frozen bananas, Zweibach Biscuits, Otter Pops. Those were my staples when my boys were teething. The Otter Pop works great. It's sweet, so they like it and the cold numbs their gums.

Your dentist will tell you it is not the teething based on the histological picture, but every mother knows that this is wrong. The old fashioned treatment is to rub a little vanilla on the gums. This has a mild analgesic value and an interesting taste and sometimes works by distraction. There are stronger over the counter medicines. These contain very active ingredients and only to be used in desperate cases. Other good advice: she will eat when she gets hungry, Use a teething ring (that doesn't work often either). Weigh her, and if she is not losing weight, do not worry.

Make sure to keep her hydrated with lots of fluids and don't worry. Try letting her suck/chew on a frozen washcloth before feeding time so she's not thinking about her pain when it's time to eat. My kids would never use those teethers, they liked the washcloth best. Serve her soft foods that she likes and try some teeting biscuits. Be careful if you are trying popsicles and teething biscuits that she doesn't choke on a piece that breaks loose.

RELAX!!! They go through this stage. Teething is horrible and they just don't have an appetite! Keep offering but don't get all bent out of shape if she refuses. Find something she does like and stick with it until this phase passes. Good Luck!!

We are going throught the same thing with our 14 month old. His molars are starting to come in, so he gets excited when he sees his favorite foods, mouth them and then spit them out. He is drinking a lot of whole milk and will eat a pedialyte popsicle. Also, he still likes Animal Crackers and the Gerber cookies. I believe that they get mushy so that it doesn't hurt the gums as much. I've gotten him to eat mashed potatoes and grits as well. Good luck!

Just give her infant Tylenol for the pain (not all teethers have fevers but just pain and still need Tylenol) and don't worry about the eating stuff...her mouth is hurting. She won't starve, humans have a starvation instinct where we will eat when we need to. Teething can be tough but don't obsess if she won't eat, it happens.

Keep her well hydrated and foods that are cold- frozen banana etc. She will eat when she wants to. She will not starve herself. I would recommend too to maybe buy somw toddler formula that will help fill her belly a little and give her nutrients and vitamins she so much needs...

don't try and force her to eat as this might cause an even bigger problem, as long as she stays well hydrated it shouldn't be too much of a problem but you could try making her a fruit smoothie with some natural yogurt added and see if she'll drink that through a straw. at least she'll be getting something that way.
