Ive never heard of this type of visa, i think the relative has to be alive,which part of england are they from?,I used to live in england up to last year, and all my family live there

No you cant. You can get a 3 yr ancestral visa if your grandparents were born in UK not great grandparents.
Pity as you re more British than some other nationalities we hand out permanent visa s to freely.

Think the ancestral visa is available to those who have grand parents born in UK. Gt Grand Parents too far back I think.

I don't think such a visa exists otherwise we would be swamped by even more people than now.
Try the british embassy for advice but, from what I recall you can only apply if you have a job to come to or close blood relatives to visit.

The ancestral visa does exist to people from the commonwealth.
However, you can only claim through you own grandparents.
you need to supply your birth cert. Your parents that appear on the birth certificate's marriage cert. Then the one that has english parents birth cert and their parents birth cert showing they were born here (in UK).

I don't know where you're coming from or what type of visa you're after (working, permanent?). I think it would need to be parents that may count, but if you check out one of these websites it may help answer your question;
