i remember real player used to be freeware....
is there a freeware version still around?

There is also real alternative player which is far more streamlined and totally free as well (i.e open source)

I just went to real.com, it's Real Player Free link on the right...

It's still there. Click on this link below and go to the bottom where it says "Download RealPlayer-Free"
