I have had a nipple ring for about 3 years or so, I've never taken it out and it is all healed up. I want to know if it will go back to normal when i take it out? For example, will I be able to breastfeed normally when I have kids?

Nipple piercings don't normally affect breast feeding. You have multiple milk ducts in each nipple, and only a few are damaged by piercing (and even if you take the ring out, they won't heal). Chances are the hole won't heal completely, but it will shrink. You may be able to notice the holes if you look closely. It will take at least a few months to become un-noticeable

You're fine. It's healed so it won't close back up on you.

It's a good idea to put the nipple rings back in from time to time so that the holes remain large enough for you to insert them back in, without discomfort.

You're safe to breast feed. You shouldn't have any problems.

No, it won't close back up. Basically it's a scar. As for breastfeeding, it depends on whether the person who done the piercing done it correctly or not. If you haven't had any trouble, I don't see a problem.

Good answer from Molly. I would just add that if you do have any problem putting the ring back in that you can go back to your local piercer and have them use an insertion needle to make it easier. But you should not have to be re-pierced.

piercings are generally going to close up if you take them out - and it will leave a scar, but it shouldn't really affect breastfeeding in the slightest. breastfeeding isn't through one hole - there are several ducts milk is expressed through, so closing up one or two via the piercing should still leave several.

It will heal in time but I wouldn't keep the hole it will only be a source for infection. Having a baby's mouth there will introduce germs
