Compressed RAW is slightly lossy, 'most' noticeably in the highlight details, although you'd have to look hard to see any difference at all. Then again, I can't see much difference between (12 bit) RAW and best quality (8 bit) jpg if I get the exposure right.

I have seen all sorts of comparisons including a difference filter between compressed and uncompressed raws and there is hardly ANY difference in image quality whatsoever.

The uncompressed NEF has maybe a handful of more highlight pixels in an entire image.

So my advice is to save your memory card space and shoot in compressed NEFs.

Have fun!
