Kids from two to five can eat anything adults can, and it's a good idea to get used to eating with the family. That said, it can be a struggle. I try to serve two familiar side dishes and one side dish that's new -- and I ask that they eat three bites of the new stuff (or the stuff they don't like).

I try to serve what they like three or four times a week, but it's hard because my 10-year-old's tastes have changed so much. So, I'm kind of making what I like these days, and if she doesn't like it, she can eat rice and soup. Although, I'm pretty worried about her nutrition . . . .

Do the best you can. Oh, and if the kids can talk, ASK them what they like! Take turns cooking what they like once in awhile -- and don't forget to include a regular day for what you like.

Granola Peanut Butter Balls
2 tablespoons honey
4 tablespoons peanut butter
2 cups granola
2 to 4 tablespoons milk, or as needed

In a large bowl, mix together the honey and peanut butter. Using a spatula, stir in the granola. Add enough milk to just moisten--you want it to stick together. Form into balls. Chill until ready to serve.

Crazy Kids Personal Pizza

Pizza stone
Store-bought Pizza dough
Tomato sauce
Mozzarella
Romano
Pepperoni, sliced
Roasted red peppers, cut in strips
Pineapple chunks
Canadian bacon
Flour
Olive oil

Preheat oven to 550 degrees. Place pizza stone inside about 20 minutes before baking the pizzas off.
Shape the pizza in individual pies. Use flour to keep the dough from sticking to your work surface. Top each pie with a drizzle of olive oil, the tomato sauce, mozzarella and Romano. Give each child their own and let them top it as they like. For example you can go traditional Italian and top it with pepperoni and onion. Or make the pizza "Hawaiian" by adding the Canadian bacon and pineapple. Place the topped pizzas on the pizza stone and cook until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is all melty.

My daughter is 3 and loves chicken. We make chicken cutlets, roasted chicken and I let her dip it in sauce (ketsup). She also love Rice A Roni (low sodium) and Stove Top Stuffing (low sodium) . You can cut up some chicken and mix it in with both and this way they get their protein too. We add apple wedges, Wheat thins & cubes of cheese as side dish options. She usually ends up eating almost everything on her plate.

Beanie weenies or spaghetti O's that is if you really want them to clean their plates. My kids went through a stage where that was all they would eat fortunately it didn't last long and they now eat everything that I do. I made a deal with them that if they would eat their veggies I would eat mine. I wish I hadn't done that because I have had to eat a ton of damn green beans and I hate them.

Little ones love spaghetti sauce - (spaghetti bolaniase) with shells or penne. They love macaroni cheese, any food that can be held with your hands - little meat balls, cubes of cheese, cubes of fruit, pieces of bread with spreads (jam, vegemite, cheese spread) chicken wings, chicken nuggets, little chat potatoes boiled and fried. Ordinary food you will eat but cut small - just experiment. My two year old positively loved macaroni or shells with bolanaise sauce it was a fun dish she could play and eat. Children love using their hands and rubbing food on themselves - let them have fun. Tuna Noodle dinner is good as well with tuna and peas and corn with a white sauce on macoroni or shell pasta. Good luck
