Unless you mean "HOW do we tell solicitors that we aren't interested?"
Then the answer is still simple. Say "sorry not interested" and slam the door in their face. If they try to block you from closing the door, they are trying to break in, and I would protect myself.

~~~Hello Doughnut Maker,are you asking Why we tell solicitors we're not interested ? I guess we'd tell them that if we weren't interested. If we were then we'd go ahead and suffer through their long spiel and buy their junk. If you're asking how to get rid of one because you're not interested, that's hard to do because they can be very persistent. Telemarketers I've had to be rude to.BUTT!! the others just shut the door in their faces and act like you're having sex or doing drugs. they'll leave you alone.

If one wanted any of the things solicitors were selling, one would have already sought it out and made the purchase elsewhere. One does not need a pesky salesman telling one what to buy.

Because they're generally soliciting junk products/services we don't need. This is especially true for people who call on the phone or someone going door-to-door. If I want to put new gutters on my house (for example), I'll do my research and call a reputable contractor--not buy from some fly-by-night organization that recruits people to sell their product over the phone or by knocking (uninvited) on my front door.
