I don't tailgate, so I don't have people hitting their brakes (note the proper spelling) for seemingly no reason in front of me. However, if you are behind me, and my brake lights flash at you for seemingly no reason, I am telling you not to follow so closely. I am constantly amazed by the sheer number of people who follow too closely. That behaviour causes a lot of unnecessary accidents.

I think that if you are following at a safe distance, then a driver who brakes suddenly won't be any danger to you.

Also, since you're not in the vehicle with the other driver and don't have his point of view, you can't accurately judge whether he's braking for NO reason or a VERY GOOD reason.

I have a funny feeling that you may be tailgating them. They are giving you a warning that you are too close to them. They don't want to be in a wreck and I'm sure you don't either. I have done the same thing, in fact, if someone is tailgating me, I'll slow down even more, just to be sure I don't have to jam on the brakes in am emergency. If I do, then the guy will be in the back of my truck.

You never know the other guys reasons why they do what they do. They may not know the area and they may be looking for a cross street. give them a break, the next time it might be who are in their shoes. good luck

I really think you are tailgating or following too close as the other said. If you are not following too close, why would it matters to u if they tap on the brake?
If they are old people who cant see or response very well to surround, respect the older drivers, did you learned it from ur driver's ed? If they are serious too slow and constantly tab their brake, then just accelrate and pass them. it is not too often that you are stuck in a 1 lane road with a driver's like that, right?
As the others said, if you have problems with people braking in front of you, you are the one being impatient.

I think it's only a problem for people who are following too closely. So why don't you back off a little. People learn to tap on their brakes when others are on their *** in defensive driving, it's a way to prevent stupid *** drivers from causing major accidents. You should take it.

I find them to usually be elderly people who maybe can't see that well. Or someone going to a garage sale. My car is trained to turn into those lol
Or someone who is lost.
I don't like it when it happens to me but I just imagine that the person driving is my mom or dad and just be patient.

People do that to me because I get to close when they are driving 50 in the fast lane on the 15 freeway in L.A. I know its because I am closer than they would like, however, DONT DRIVE 50 IN THE FAST LANE, MORON. lol. I have road rage.
