trying to find out what church I should try out

How about staying up until 2am reading the bible. Going to sleep praising God. Getting up at 4am and raising hands to God, crying. Getting out of bed and laying stretched out across the floor alone in the night praising and thanking God. Crawling back in bed and holding the bible close to your heart. Feeling God's presence all around. Waking up to God's voice. Thanking him for his new holy day.

It doesn't matter where you go to church. Church is within your spirit-and the holy spirit is within us, leading us to truly worship.

We meet every Saturday morning in a rented elementary school so first we have to set up the chairs.

Then at 9:30 am we Have opening prayer and sing some uplifting songs. Then we have a Bible study where we divide up into groups and study an agreed upon text.

At around 10:35 am we end the Bible study and get ready for the Church service.

We have some announcements then the church service starts at around 11:00 am. The service usually goes like this:

Opening prayer

We sing a hymn

We have a congregational prayer where the prayer prays for the congregation and special requests

Then there is a special children’s story were all the children come up to the front to hear a story just for them but every one listens and enjoys it.

Then there is an offering call, where someone gives a short appeal for a special offering of the week and then the plate is passed around.

Sometimes there is a special music ministry

Then the scripture of the week is read which ties into the sermon.

Then the speaker of the week delivers a sermon.

We sing another hymn and dismiss with a closing prayer around 12:15 pm

Once a month we have a "potluck" diner after the service, everyone is invited to stay and eat.

Once a quarter we have a special communion service that includes foot washing and bread and wine

This is a typical Seventh-day Adventist worship service in America, but of course not every SDA church is typical.

Once upon a time, I thought of becoming christian. I went to catholic, protestant, and other churches like those of the anglicans, methodist, JW, mormons, etc2. I'm still am not convinced because each one of them did their service atypically. Some, outrageously! Count me out.

Well we worship at home. We do have several gatherings at the temple throughout the year. We celebrate many different things and in many different ways. We don't have a typical worship.

Hugs

I am Unitarian Universalist. What attracted me to this church would probably keep others away.

The word "God" is not mentioned at all!

It's an intergenerational, interfaith congregation open to religious searchers from all kinds of backgrounds: Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Buddhist, humanists, atheists, etc.

It values ethical and responsible living, critical thinking and the free exchange of ideas.

The basic structure of the Mass has four parts: two main parts and two framing rites:

Introductory Rites
LITURGY of the WORD (Biblical Readings, Homily, Creed, Intercessions)
LITURGY of the EUCHARIST (Preparation, Eucharistic Prayer; Communion Rite)
Concluding Rite

those i've got been to tend on what I call heavy liturgy. One, acted like they have been channeling the prayers of the congregation in the process the priest who had his lower back to the congregation whilst kneeling in the previous a statue of Jesus. The result became into to convey to my ideas that the prayers have been channeled from the congregation, in the process the priest, in the process the statue, to God. Wow. yet another I went to in Astoria, Oregon. they have their priestly robes on, and spent an awful lot of time speaking approximately community concerns, and that i think of it became into approximately 8 minutes on the sermon. I asked bearing directly to the view of Martin Luther and the Epistle of James, and the priest did no longer view James interior a similar way. He common James and his Epistle.

Feel free to add a HYMN or an extra reading.

Sometimes we sing out the books but we sing mostly stuff we already know.

I like the maranatha songs.
