Make some soup from scratch, there are millions of recipes for different types on the internet. Potatos are cheap and so are noodles. You can make a huge pot of Cream of potato soup or some type of noodle soup for under 6 bucks, and you will have enough left over to survive off of for about a week.

Boullion cubes, potatos, noodles and spices are definately your friend when it comes to making cheap food that doesn't taste bad.

Eggs rock, they're cheap and can be done any number of ways. Toss a fried egg on toast with some type of breakfast meat (bacon, ham, even fried bologna works) and cheese. Voila, open faced sandwich that's cheap and filling. Or boil them... Easy snack, not just for Easter any more. Or scrambled, turned into an omelet, and if she ever gets any box cakes or whatever they need eggs too. They have a decent shelf life (pasteurized of course, I presume she's not a farm girl so I probably don't need to mention that) Other ideas... Easy Mac and Cheese (the instant packs)... Fix 2 of them, add a can of tuna and half a can of peas. Sprinkle with a little powered onion. Tuna cassserole for 1 in 4 minutes and only 1 bowl. Taco salad... Brown a pound of beef, add a pack of taco seasoning. Put on a bed of standard "restaurant style" tortilla chips and top with sour cream, onion, tomato, taco sauce, cheese, olives, and/or whatever other toppings you like. Skillet Sensations. It's a bag of frozen food you cook in a skillet, comes with the meat, sauce, veggies, everything. Edible and easy. Search the web for Ramen recipes. They're everywhere. Personally I can't stand them, but everyone has their own tastes.

Shake N Bake - Extra Crispy with trimmed up chicken breast is easy. Just follow the directions on the box. Steam some carrots in the microwave and it is a pretty simple, easy dinner.

Tyson cooked chicken in a can or pouch (in the tuna section) mixed with some salsa and shredded cheese makes a pretty nifty and quick quesadilla. Heat up some rinsed black beans and you could make that a meal.

A good hearty salad is also easy. It already comes in a bag, just add some cucumber, tomato and bell pepper and whatever else you like to it.

Get with some friends and grill out once in a while. Cook a bunch of chicken breast at once and slice it later for your salads, chicken salad sandwiches, or easy fajitas later.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://bitly.im/aNEZe

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

Buy fresh veggies from cheap farmer's markets or Asian markets. Bok choy, broccoli, chard, cabbage (all kinds), spinach, kale, bell peppers, and carrots pack a good nutritional punch for the price. Stir fry is the ultimate starving student meal - veggies, a little meat (or cashews/peanuts or tofu) if you can afford it, a little soy sauce, a sprinkle of sugar - because it's filling, nutritious, quick, and can be stretched by serving over rice or noodles.

Frozen veggies are often really cheap, too. Make a bag of mixed frozen veg (carrots, peas, lima beans, green beans, corn, et cetera) into a "shepherd's" pie by adding 1/4 pound of browned ground beef sauteed with onions and about half a packet of instant beef or brown gravy. Dump the mixture over instant mashed potatoes and top with ketchup (if you like). A big comfort food meal for two for about $5.

Go and get a toaster oven for $9 from Walgreens
You can make cookies from prepared dough, mini pizzas out of english muffins, toast, tuna melts, chicken breasts, et cetera. You can have basically anything that can be made in a toaster or regular oven.
I love my toaster and it is really cheap and easy to make quick and tasty and HEALTHY food.
I also have a crock pot which I love, but it takes a lot more time to prepare stuff. You also need spices for a lot of recipies and those can get expensive and they take up a lot of space.
A water boiler can also be used to make regular mac and cheese or spaghetti or anything that needs boiling. They're also available at Walgreens or you can usually find them at Walmart or Target.

Check around for a crock pot. I bet you your parents or grandparents have one that they have never or wont ever use and i am sure they will let you have/borrow it while you are going to school. If not you can buy one at a yard sale for next to nothing and chances are it was never used.

This is perfect for hundreds of dishes and works especially well for beans, soups, and if you eat meat that too. The best part is you spend anout 5 -10 mins preparing the stuff in the morning before class and 4-8 hrs latter depending on how you set the food is done when you get home. It plugs in and uses minamal power, dosent need to be watched, it wont burn down the apartment. Its almost impossible to burn and very easy to clean. Plus it smells nice when you get home and you will have lots of leftovers you can nuke latter.

There are thousands of recipes online too.

Another cheap thing to make is lentils. put on tortillas with salt yum.

Rice and beans are very cheap. Rice is good for breakfast too. Put cooked rice and a little milk and heat it on the stove or in the microwave is fine. Then add some sugar, and i like cinnamon on it. The longer you cook it the thicker the milk gets. Some peple like it more like cereal, but i like it thick more like oatmeal.

Fadao is good too you can buy those little cheapy bags of little noodls (shells, strings, elbows etc) for $0.25 + can of tomato sauce for $0.25.
Brown the noodles in a little oil then add the little can of sauce and two can fulls of water and any seasonings then let cook with the lid on for about 10 to 15 min. Stiring ocasionally. Youll know when it is done, the sauce wont be wattery it will look right, like thick pasta sauce.
This goes very good with tofu or steamed veggies , or meat if you like that.

at 99 ranch, the chinese market, buy lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, whatever veggie you want. it's very very cheap, especially when it's on sale. and veggies are really easy to make. pour some veggie oil in first, then add in the vegetable (previously washed and cut into pieces), and then after a minute of tossing and turning it, add 1/5 to 1/4 cup of water. there, healthy, and easy to make veggies.

as for rice, just buy those rice bags and a rice cooker. and i hope you know how to cook rice. add one cup of rice, rinse out the rice, and add water and put it in the cooker.

and for meats, im not good with those. just buy it from the market.

Heat up chili con carne in a can, heat up tortillas, and put chile in it. Add lettuce and shreaded cheese and tomato. Quite cheap.

Also, buy 1/4 hamburger and make tiny meatballs. Add to Franco American spaghetti in the can.

Also tacos, spaghetti, chili, and sandwiches. Try golden apples with peanut butter on them.

Anything cheap heated with frozen vegetables. Cream soup with frozen stir fry vegetables, noodles with mix vegetables, Rice with California mix, etc. If you need more flavoring, add a bullion cube.
