I am pro-choice. I don't think abortion is a positive thing for anyone, but I do think it can be the lesser of two evils and that you cannot put laws on what people do with their bodies.
The laws... legal up to 12 to 20 weeks, as it is after this point when pain can be felt by the fetus. After that point, legal only in a circumstance in which the mother's life is in danger.

Abortion is murder. I do not have any quotes from the bible to prove so. I do know that God is the only one to take a life we all know that murder and suicide is against God's word. I am pro life. I have read facts on how an abortion is done. The late term abortions. It sickens me to my stomach. I am against abortion, It will never be illegal. I do wish that they would at least restrcit the time frame on when a woman could get an abortion. I just do not see how someone could kill a child when it can feel, it can move, the little arms and legs. It is just a sad situation. In this society there really is no answer. Humans are going to make their own rules. How many people even belive in God anymore. No morals these days. .

1) According to the 14th Amendment, WOMEN (even pregnant ones) ARE citizens with rights.
2) According to the 14th Amendment, fetuses are NOT citizens with rights.
3) Considering the current immigration problems, I'm fairly certain that the U.S. government is not prepared to change the 14th Amendment to grant rights to anyone merely CONCEIVED within the borders. Think about it.
4) Contrary to popular misconception (pun appreciated but not intended), abortion was NOT illegal before Roe v. Wade - it was simply the GOVERNMENT'S decision as to WHEN it could/should be performed. Thousands of abortions WERE performed, when the GOVERNMENT deemed it appropriate.
5) The U.S. Government has a long history of killing, aborting, and sterilizing people it deems "undesirable".
6) The Supreme Court ACKNOWLEDGED, in PP vs. Casey, that if WOMEN did not retain the Right to Choose, they could be FORCED BY THE GOVERNMENT to have unwanted abortions (a la China).
7) There are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of UNWANTED children wasting away in the foster care system RIGHT NOW. Only a complete imbecile would think it's a good idea to forcibly ADD millions more per year.
8) According to the Bible, man became a living soul when the BREATH OF LIFE was breathed INTO HIS NOSTRILS. Fetuses do NOT breathe through their nostrils.
9) The Bible contains instructions on how to abort an unwanted pregnancy. I bet your preacher hasn't told you about that.
10) Women have ALWAYS had, and will ALWAYS have abortions, regardless of whether it is legal.
11) Given a choice, *I* would rather be killed quickly than become an 18+-year burden to someone who didn't want me. There is no reason to assume that my fetus wouldn't want the same thing, and since it can't decide, as its only host, the decision is MINE to make.
12) If you can't trust a woman with the right to make the best choice in her individual situation, HOW could you trust her to gestate a healthy fetus? Are you planning to imprison ALL pregnant women so they can't eat or do the "wrong" thing?

extremely late term abortion should be outlawed with an exception for circumstances where its neccesary to save the mother.
I think first trimester or maybe first 4 months should be freely voluntary, without restriction.
the part in between, should be allowed if really insisted, but with counseling and such.
it should not be allowed to be a form of birth control, but there *are* circumstances where its the appropriate thing to do, even without it being rape or inscest or other things of that sort.
personhood does not occur til very late in the pregnancy in most cases, (sometimes) and not earlier unless for whatever circumstances its a given that the pregnancy will be "good".
(lots and lots of pregnancy "starts" do not make it to term, through 100% natural circumstances, without anything deliberate to stop it. science pretty much proves the concept of personhood at conception to be absurd)
now that is not to say that I think abortion is a good thing. its not. but it is something that needs to be avaliable.
outlawing it would only cause problems.

Due to the health risks associated with getting an abortion, such as increased risk of breast cancer (at which I am already at risk of due to family history), I would never get an abortion. Plus the process sickens me, but everyone is different and not getting an abortion would be MY choice, just as getting an abortion is someone else's choice, and that is theirs to make.
The law is meant to protect the people. If abortion were illegal, then women would be getting mutilated by sketchy "doctors" that will perform the abortions (just like what happened when it was illegal). Guess what, it is impossible to get everyone to practice abstinence or proper birth control due to lack of education etc, so if a woman wishes to have an abortion for personal reasons, or needs to have one due to health reasons or it was the result of a rape, then it is better that it be legal than illegal. Either way, they may go through with it either way.
And another thing - HOW ABOUT YOU STOP GIVING EVERYONE A THUMBS DOWN BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE WITH THEM, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE ALL TECHNICALLY GIVING THE RIGHT ANSWER BY ANSWERING A QUESTION THAT IS ASKING FOR DIFFERENT OPINIONS!?!?!? Jerks...

Keep it legal. We should not be pushed back into a 3rd world nation regarding Womens Rights.
Do not let evangelical religious views infiltrate our rights as human beings, when some of us do not share the same religious views.
Sometimes abortion is reasonable. Do not take that away from our women. Otherwise, we will be just like the nations we shake our heads at and say "what a shame".

the way i see it, most abortions are performed because people were too stupid to protect themselves properly. in which case abortion is just an attempt to escape responsibility for your actions, and i disapprove of that.
however, if every measure was taken to stay protected and by some fluke a pregnancy occurs, or if a woman wants an abortion because she was raped or something, i'm all for it.
i'm in the minority however, that i don't believe it's "a woman's right to choose." a pregnancy is the result of the actions of 2 people, not one. for a woman to decide to get an abortion without consulting the father seems wrong to me. it's his kid too, he should at least get to discuss it with the woman and they should decide together what is the best thing to be done. (and i'm a woman, btw)
as for the law, i think abortion should be illegal after the 1st trimester. no matter how you look at it, by that pint, it is most definitely a living breathing eating thing. anything after this period is a partial-birth abortion which basically breaks up all the bones and bits of the baby that has formed and sucks them out. it's sick, in my opinion. before that point though, i don't see it as being a "child" because it's basically just a bundle of nerves and whatnot and isn't formed enought.
thumbs-down me all you want. i don't care. i was asked for my opinion and i gave it.

I trust women to make the choice that's right for themselves. I think the woman would be the person who is the most affected by the situation so she's the one who should decide.
Also, I think it's silly when people say "It's murder and it shouldn't be allowed... unless you're raped." Why is it okay to murder a baby if it was conceived by rape? Does that make it less important? Less of a human?

Abortion is muder of a human being EVEN in cases of rape and incest. EVEN in cases when the womans life is in danger.
I know that will send chills down some spines but so be it.
I also know that some people will throw weaker people from a lifeboat to save themselves and the Donner party resorted to murder and cannibalism to survive in the wilderness. Circumstances did not change the fact that these thing were wrong.

I don't think there should be any laws for or against it. For me personally, it is a no chance in hell kind of thing. I did the deed, and if I wind up pregnant, then I need to take responsibility for my actions. But for other people, I can't place the same expectation on them. I am not them, I don't know their circumstances.
